They make good trucks. They need to make better cars.
“They make good trucks. They need to make better cars.”
They make some decent models too..like the Fusion/Milan. They just don’t stand out amongst the Camry/Accord crowd.
I've read good things about the Taurus, Fusion and sister cars.
“They make good trucks. They need to make better cars.”
I hear they make better cars now. Much of their line is a meld between them and Mazda. I believe the Fusion is a Mazda 6 and the Edge is a CX-7 or a CX-9?
Problem is, Ford is reaping what they have sown. They made some real crap, and now people like me don’t want any part of their garbage.
I had a Windstar with 22k on the clock and the dealer couldn’t fix the tranny. Last Ford I owned.
Does an Explorer count as a truck, or car?
My 2000 Explorer died at 82K. The dealer offered me $500.
I bought a 2007 Honda and smile when I see this drop in sales. I’ll likely never own another car made by UAW unless they break/unionize Honda, or Toyota.
Ford makes outstanding full size and commercial vehicles... their car lines are finally improving.
I don’t see this as some doom and gloom, but to be expected.
Reducing fleet sales is going to cut the number of units sold, and with the credit/housing issues a lot of folks are hunkering down and thinking twice about big ticket purchases.
I expect you’ll see sales down for most the auto makers for a while, other than the koreans who are picking up the slack GM and FORD have given by reducing their fleet sales.

Actually, they are both good. I have a 2005 F150 and a 2008 Fusion. I checked the Honda, Hyundai and the Toyota and in my opinion the Fusion beat them all in value. And getting 33 mpg is not bad either. The rest are fine but in the end the Ford was the better car and value. The trunk opening was only comparable in the Hyundai. Both the Toyota and Honda had the old fashioned type. I’m 6’6” and 260 pounds and have plenty of room. Very comfortable road car and the looks have drawn many favorable comments. I’m sick of looking at the others quite frankly.
Now if one wanted to criticize the old Taurus, that is one thing. I would agree. They let that car decay into a piece of garbage before they pulled the plug. The 500/Taurus is a completely different animal. Killing the rental sales was a good management decision because that just pushes a lot of smoke filled vehicles into the car fleet that tarnishes the image.

New company vehicle is a Ford truck. It is a piece of sh*t.
They make damned good trucks. I still drive my 2000 Ford F-150, and I love that truck more than any vehicle I’ve owned in the past 30 years. I’ve owned four Ford pickups, and I love the -150.
Ford Motor Company is providing support to the militant homosexual political agenda. For me, that’s a “deal-breaker.” I’m sad to say, “No more Fords for me.”
