Note to self:

Don't try to post from a co-worker's Blackberry when you've never even held one.

Fat fingers, tiny keys and poor eyesight make for a miserable combination.

Certainly. I rather chat with an officer than be killed by a drunk.

I'd rather be killed by a drunk than by a revenue-enhancement officer incited by a MADD mother.

I can grow more lettuce. I haven't figured out how to recover the 5 classmates killed by drunk drivers during my senior year in high school.

Other than that, how is the rest of the Class of 2006 doing?

Class of 1970 myself. My youngest kid is 24, and I feel sorry for him and his sister for having to travel around in fear of roadblocks.

So, the seminal event(s) that turned you into a statist and neo-prohibitionist occurred 24 years ago?

>>Don’t drink and drive. They won’t have any means of bothering you.<<

Who are you to tell people, “don’t drink and drive?” It’s legal to drink and drive.

It’s just not legal to drink until you are above an arbitrary (and being lowered all the time) BAC level.

But I guess you Nanny-Staters know what’s best for everyone.

The term “DON’T Drink and Drive” is a dead tip-off that the nanny-staters want you to have NO MORE FREEDOM to drink a glass of wine at a restaurant or a beer after work with friends, and drive.

It is asinine, but it is absolute.

>>I volunteer as a COP when the city has events that demand more people than we have sworn officers to cover. If you enjoy competition handgun shooting, you’ll love picking off a speeding vehicle with a LIDAR at 1000 yards. You can get an excellent return off a headlight or license plate. It’s much better than the microwave RADAR units.<<

You are a royal dipshit.

The term “DON’T Drink and Drive” is a dead tip-off that the nanny-staters want you to have NO MORE FREEDOM to drink a glass of wine at a restaurant or a beer after work with friends, and drive.

You aren't talking about one small glass of beer or wine. You want the freedom to drink until you are impaired, then drive on a public street. It's a matter of self control, self discipline and personal responsibility. Nobody is restricting your freedom to drink. The restriction is your ability to drive while impaired after exercising the freedom to drink. Call a cab or designate a driver so you aren't a danger to yourself or others on the road.

Whine about the law all you want. You are obligated to operate within the law until you succeed in changing it. I just spent $281 for a 20" S&W 460 barrel so I could fire that round with a rifle stock mounted to my Encore frame. I have a perfectly good 15" S&W 460 barrel, but I'm not permitted to have a rifle stock on the frame with a 15" barrel. It's a felony to do so, unless I fill out applications, pay taxes and get the frame authorized for use as a short barreled rifle. The forms, taxes, engraving and time spent would cost me far more than $281.

Who are you to tell people, “don’t drink and drive?” It’s legal to drink and drive.

It's legal within the established legal limits. As with my example of staying within the limits for the 460 rifle, you also have a responsibility to stay within the limits. If you screw up and a get a DUI, you are the person responsible for the sequence of events that put you in that position.
