Illinois Schools Canceling Christmas and Halloween to Avoid Offending Muslims

Another absolutely disgusting example of pre-emptive dhimmitude, in the name of tolerance and multiculturalism, right here in the US: First Jell-O, now Santa.

So long, Halloween parade. Farewell, Santa’s gift shop.

The holiday traditions are facing elimination in some Oak Lawn schools this year after complaints that the activities are offensive, particularly to Muslim students.

Final decisions on which of the festivities will be axed will fall to the principals at each of Ridgeland School District 122’s five schools, Supt. Tom Smyth said.

Parents expect that the announcement is going to add to the tension that has been building since officials agreed earlier this month to change the lunch menu to exclude items containing pork to accommodate Muslim students. News that Jell-O was struck from the menu caused such a stir that officials have agreed to bring it back.

Gelatin is often made with tissue or bones of pigs or other animals.

I paint every Muslim with a broad brush because there is no intramural debate, none, among Muslims. No criticism, no condemnation of terrorism, nothing, nichts, nichevo, nada. Might as well watch a tsunami coming in and speculate about drops of water arguing with each other.

Thank you for your post. I agree with what you said. In Glenn Beck's recent series "A Perfect Day," the terrorist experts said that what Al Queda's plan is to do something so heinous that it would unleash a backlash against Muslims in the States. He then hoped to use this backlash as the means to unite the Muslim world.

The anger at the terrorists, who kill our soldiers is justified. Anger at the local gas station attendant because he is Muslim is not.

There are Muslims helping us to fight this war on terror. Should they be included in the broad brush that I have seen repeated applied to Muslims here on Free Republic?

The problem is they have CAIR and they make a stink over anything they feel is a slight to their religion of peace. Indeed, far too many Muslims have been corrupted by their hate filled equivalents of Jim Jones. But there are certainly many Muslims who are interested in seeing the rule of law, individual rights and respect for private property take root. As you correctly noted, many of these people put their lives and their families’ safety on the line for these values (I suspect most of us can’t truly fathom how families are targeted during insurgences). 31 of these men died in Kabul today, that’s why I felt the need to say something about the thoughtless comments on this tread. Perhaps one day more Americans will come to realize that not all of these people are our enemies and that someone has to be brave enough to stop the circle of intolerance and ignorance.

God bless all of the American, NATO/ISAF, Afghan, Iraqi and other allied troops who will be going out on convoys, flying sorties, turning wrenches, shuffling papers, patrolling and working provincial reconstruction teams today.

How true...But until then I shall do as I please. I will take my chances with a hate crime charge too. I am sick of all this bs....Hate crime....If I hate the color purple am I going to get charged with that someday? How on earth can I be charged with a hate crime if I don't want to give them my money??? I want to see them prove it. My son in law is a Sikh & what the Muslims have done to the Sikhs is more then a hate crime IMO. Things are getting too crazy & if we don't oppose this madness now we will pay dearly for it in the future. ZERO TOLERANCE TO THE MUSLIMS.... Let them go home or adapt to the American way of life.

I have no problem with Muslims who want to come here & be American ....If they want to stand up against terrorism I think thats wonderful and they ought to if they are living in the USA.. However when they want to change our traditions & make life different for us, I do have a problem. If they want to practice their way of life then they ought to do it where it does not intrude on our traditions. However I see so many of them making stinks over every little thing that I just get disgusted.

Why don’t parents just bring in Christmas trees and nativity scenes, and have their children dress up in Christmas garb and sing carols all day long. If 400 students do this, then there is nothing the administration can do, and they must back down.

I am the one who won’t use the Muslim gas station...The reason is because where I live many times the police have had to be called when the gas that was supposed to be pumped into our tanks was not. The Muslim attendant starts screaming he put it in & the tank is still empty. That does not give you a good feeling, knowing you’ve been ripped off. Nor does the fact the men are nasty to young women when they go into their little markets & they make rude comments. So tell me why I should spend my money in these places?
