Dems Hot Over Rush's 'Phony Troops' Comment Talk Show Host Draws Fire
POSTED: 7:54 am EDT September 28, 2007 UPDATED: 8:22 am EDT September 28, 2007 The war of words over the conflict in Iraq took a new turn Thursday as Democrats in Congress excoriated radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh for calling some soldiers "phony troops."
Limbaugh had argued with a caller on Wednesday about when U.S. troops ought to be brought home. The caller, who identified himself as "Mike" from Chicago and said he was an a Iraq veteran and a Republican, pushed Limbaugh on whether the occupation in Iraq would last forever.
Limbaugh and his next caller, who also said he was in the military, both referred to soldiers who criticize the war and urge that troops be brought home as "phony troops."
The exchange came a week after the Senate passed a resolution condemning the anti-war group MoveOn for an ad in the New York Times that asked whether Gen. David Petraeus, in testimony before Congress, would be "General Betray-us." The House passed a similar resolution this week.
Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Pa., an Iraq veteran critical of the war, scolded Limbaugh in a Thursday column on the HuffingtonPost.com Web site.
"When someone like Rush Limbaugh says that soldiers who disagree with the failed strategies of President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are 'phony soldiers,' you have to consider the source," he wrote.
"Rush Limbaugh, who, in January, called Vietnam veteran Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., 'Senator Betrayus' for disagreeing with President Bush, has made no secret of his disdain for those who serve and speak out. Where was Rush Limbaugh when it came time to serve his country?"

Amen, brother.
No, the point is that many are LITERALLY phony troops. Rush wasn’t disparaging the service of actual troops; he was accusing seminar callers of falsely claiming to be troops. Whether the previous caller was phony or not, Rush couldn’t know, and so he should be careful, but many so-called anti-war troops are simply liars.

Desperation...man...that’s all they have????? Pathetic. Go Rush!!!!
Don’t think I would want that sob watching my “6”.
I guess I would have more to say about Military policy because I was an elisted Air Force guy for 4 years as compared to 50% of the congressmen and senators if I use their thinking.
Also, wasn’t John Kerry’s military service 40 years ago supposed to mean the was the best option for President? Then how can they support Hillary or Obama or Silky Edwards now?
Did Hillary serve?
I forget which radio show it is but the guy will ask the “vet” a couple questions about his unit, some of the weapons they use etc... Usually outs the fake vets.
The anti-war groups have a lot of fake vets who claim they have some standing because of their status.
How about that guy who wrote pieces for the NR but they were all figments of his imagination. Should we take his view points as legit.
Rush will love going through this hit piece today and demolishing it.
At least that's what the democraps tell us...
It's even on TV, so you just know it's "real"...
Sounds to me like Limbaugh meant the caller was a phoney troop, same as many callers pretending to be republicans are phoney republicans (not to be confused with Rinos.)
In fact, on C-Span, I’d say you get Democrats on the Republican call-in line and you get Republicans on the Democrat call-in line.
Any time they say, “I’s a republican, BUT.....” then you know it’s a “phoney republican.”
HeHeHe. Media matters has gone into melt down mode lately trying to justify that MoveOn.ogre ad. I sent them a note just a couple days ago concerning the reuters story that claimed that W had killed Mandela. Not a peep out of them. Imagine my surprise ;o) I guess media only matters to the dems on Bill and Hill’s plantation.

I am positive all branches of the service have similar ratings. Few veterans would forget theirs. Hell, I even remember my serial number.
Oxycontin is highly over rated. I don’t see how anyone could get hooked on it.
I know enough when someone asks my MOS I would say,” No, I had a brain, I was in the Air Force!”
I though everybody in the Air Force was a pilot....just kidding!!!
Serial Number....What years were you in?
When I was in it was just your SS#. No more serial numbers. It was too many numbers for the Army types to remember!
Exactly.
I lot of the guys in the tentacles of the shadow party vets groups (Vote Vets... remember Wes Clark, other generals anti-war ad, Truth Ops which reverted to IAVA, who just got Obama Girl and the rest to make an ‘I support the troops video’ to win everyone who doesn’t know their agenda... google them, you’ll see), some guys are washouts, have 4 months in. Some like Beauchamp, admittingly enlist with the plan to write this crap that gets troops killed; No conscience, no thought whatsoever for what comes after... just headlines, face time and a book, paid for by Soros and the Clintonistas.
