I would ask him “Why do you, a dictator known to harbor terrorism, support al-Qaida, sell weapons to the insurgents in Iraq, deny the Holocaust, insist on nuking Israel off the map, and threaten the US every day, insist on speaking to American college students and visiting Ground Zero, the site of two building that, by the help of your cronies, are now a pile of rubble?”

In a way I wish I was at Columbia today. I would loooove to ask that question. I just hope they won’t taser me...

Did he kill the 50 scientists he lost? Sheesh like someone that kills their mom and dad telling a sob story about being an orphan.

Sure sure if it's ok to post to this link, so am pinging you to make sure.
More interesting tidbits
Today, Iran is experiencing the most severe crackdown on social behavior and dress in years, and women are often barred from smoking in public, let alone attending a stadium event.

Yes we can. Kurt Waldheim was deemed persona non grata by Ronald Reagan, and several European countries, thus barred from entering the US for any reason. While I'm not aware of Waldheim attempting to use a UN visit as an excuse, PNG is a longstanding diplomatic concept used by all nations. It would have gone nowhere.

Kurt Waldheim was barred by the Justice Department from entering during his term as President of Austria. However, I don't believe he ever tried to enter the US to address the UN. That would have been a test of our host country agreement with the UN. To the best of my knowledge, it has never been tested.

Thanks.

The collective “we” is America. I am not suggesting that the USG get involved.

Thanks. C-SPAN will air everything tonight at 11:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). I’ll have to TIVO it or watch a video stream on their website.

Oh well, the international community will have to send us a harshly worded letter.

the international community will have to send us a harshly worded letter.

A few countries might imprison our diplomats, if we start violating treaty obligations whose origins extend back to antiquity.

The DUmmies seem to be against him, at least because he denies gay Iranians, but they keep saying "better than Bush".

I am certain that if Hitler were alive, they would say the same. Nutjob vs DUmmies? It's a toss-up. I can't tell which is more insane.

At least DU isn't working on nuclear weapons, so I guess that makes them less of a threat.

The horrid fact now is that in Iran all that will be publicized by the media is the shots of the crowd applauding (why I can't fathom), the mass of people waiting to get in, the fact that the event was "sold out," and bits and pieces of his address that his people will spin to make it appear he was a welcomed success.

That is why it was so stupid to invite him here in the first place. The publicity he will get from this, after all the truth is cut out, after they remove the comments by the Dean, and they erase the hard questions he was asked and could not or did not answer. There is no way anyone in Iran will get to see Ahmadinejad's obvious stupidity and how inept and uneducated he truly is. This is exactly what he wanted. He couldn't have paid for a better propaganda stunt in his country!

He got applause (from some either stoned students or "plants,") he got a crowd to come there (it doesn't matter that the majority were protesting his visit - just the crowd will be shown in Iran and that will be touted as a success), and he got the invitation.

These will carry him a long way in Iran because of how it will be projected there.

How dumb can we be that we have given this this terrorist dictator the opportunity to use our own people to advance his hatred against our country; his reputation, his lies, his prejudices, and his insane policy in his country to his advantage? Didn't anyone at Columbia think how this will be turned around to show we favored him, and used to further strengthen their belief that everyone in the US is against all current U.S policy/leaders? How can a college dean not understand anything about "spins" when it comes to politics, and the way a country and leader like Ahmadinejad will turn this around to make it all appear favorable? In Iran they certainly won't hear the truth about this farce of a speech; they certainly won't be told how dumb and flustered he was, and they certainly won't hear the "boos," -- or any of the after-speech negative commentary and intelligent analysis stating that he "said nothing except lies and drivel," that he received.

I give up when I think of our own ability (and our idealistic naiveté to think these people fight fair!) to put our own heads on the block when it comes to international propaganda! aaa,pa. And we wonder why President Bush says that negotiations/talks with idiots like these are fruitless. Anyone with half a brain has just seen why!

Like who?

Countries we shouldn’t be in in the first place.

We don’t owe terrorist leaders anything.

If people can’t understand that - they were never our friends to begin with.

Countries we shouldn’t be in in the first place.

Just what countries do you want us to not spy on? That is one of the major purposes of diplomacy you know.

We’re friends with the russians and chinese and they’re increasing covert operations in our nations.

So really - diplomacy has limited advantages.

And besides, I’m asking you which countries are going to start arresting our officials?

inviting him to hear him say stupid things like ‘there are no gay people in iran’ and ‘911 might be inside job’ to prove that he is stupid is like needing to stick scissors in an electrical socket to prove electricity is dangerous

we should not have had to ‘get first hand proof’ or whatever columbia was trying to pull

the whole thing is embarassing
