I would guess that charges will be dropped before this gets to trial, because otherwise, the examination in a court of law of the airport's security folks on their training and expertise generally and in particular in evaluating the physical characteristics of potential bombs will be quite hilarious.

Please identify the essential components in a bomb? What training courses / refreshers have you had on identifying potential bombs? What from your training led you to believe that flashing LEDs were a characteristic of an explosive device? etc.
