5 GOP candidates commit to Baltimore debate (No Fred, Rudy McRomney, but there are Hunter and Paul)
Baltimore Sun ^ | 09/22/2007 | David Nitkin

Just five Republican candidates - half the invited field - will take part in Thursday's presidential debate in Baltimore, event organizers said yesterday.

The four leading contenders, Rudolph W. Giuliani, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson, have each said they will not participate in the forum focusing on issues facing minority voters. Their absence has drawn the ire of Tavis Smiley, the talk-show host who is moderating and organizing the debate at Morgan State University; he said the candidates are making a mistake in not reaching out to black voters.

A list of confirmed participants released yesterday also omits Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, a staunch opponent of current immigration policy. Confirmed are Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Alan L. Keyes of Maryland, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, organizers said.

Also yesterday, former Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele, the chairman of GOPAC, a Republican political action committee, said in a statement that he was "hopeful" each missing candidate would "adjust his schedule" to participate.

"Just out of curiosity, what exactly makes you consider him a nutball? Is there anything other than his position on the Iraq war?"

There are a few irrefutable, and fatal issues that Paul harbors that puts him way over the top.

"So you actually want a Democrat elected in Ron Paul's district?"

I hope I never resort to this kind of sophmoric crap when I'm making an argument one way or another.

If I do, someone deserves to severely brow-beat me.

Half of them will watch Star Trek, and the other half Jerry Springer reruns.

Fact is that lots of us don't even watch or own televisions. In light of what television has done to the reasoning process for you and your ilk, that appears to be a good decision.

Since RP filed for re-election to Congress as a Republican, then the only way he can be defeated in November 2008 is to be beaten by a Dim.

I assumed you meant what you said. Clearly, you didn't say anything about defeating him in the Texas spring primary.

Why should they give a reason for not attending? I think it might be that they don’t want to waste the time. But, you know, no one has to explain a decision, usually just gives the idiots a chance to ask another stupid question..

I posted it several times in this thread already....look it up and try doing your own research. There was a FR thread on the comments September 16th. But here’s where I found it:

Blog: Saturday, September 15th
Ron Paul Compares U.S. Marines to “Mall Security”

http://www.patgray.com/content/view/729/32/

Pat and Edd on Friday reported a story out of KFI Radio in Los Angeles with John Ziegler. His guest, Congressman Ron “Dr. Strangelove” Paul. You can listen to Pat and Edd’s coverage of this starting at about 14:00 into Hour 2 from yesterday. During the course of the interview, Ron Paul eagerly agrees that mall security is more effective than our soldiers in Iraq and that is why we have not been attacked since 9/11. The good doctor also said that we have not been attacked because it’s so much easier for the enemy to kill us over there. Now our soldiers are easy prey for the enemy along with being trained below mall security standards, or at least so says Ron Paul. Don’t believe me, or Pat Gray, or Edd Hendee? No problem. Listen directly to the audio yourself.

Not only does Ron Paul have zero respect for our military fighting against al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Taliban in Afghanistan on the sixth anniversary of the attacks on 9/11; he also has no understanding of foreign policy, the world, and our place in it. This barely-a-Congressman political hack is the most offensive Presidential candidate running for office today. Cynthia McKinney on a bender has more place holding the office of Meter Maid than Ron Paul has being a United States Congressman, much less our President.

The last statement bears repeating so that I am clear, because it’s not an insult any more than it’s an insult to call Fidel Castro a Communist. See how easy that was all you Acedemiacs out there? Moving on... Allow me to clarify my previous statement to all Ron Paul supporters: A drunk, racist, Democrat has more of a right to dish-out parking tickets than Ron Paul has holding public office. It’s a fact of life just like “the sky is blue” and “the Sun causes global warming”. The sooner Ron Paul supporters realize this, the better off everyone will be; including them.

There is help for the wayward and confused Ron Paul Zombie. Reality. In large doses. This link can serve as a good menu of Ron Paul’s infractions upon American politics. This link will introduce you to Dr. Strangelove. This link will introduce you to what is in my opinion, Ron Paul’s anti-Semitic side. This link will show you Ron Paul taking credit for hurricane relief that he voted against. This link brings us to Ron Paul’s love affair with earmarks. This link explains how Ron Paul’s zombie minions stack internet polls to show their freaky leader at any number other than the real one; 0%.

#1 is a rant from a townhall blogger who sounds a lot like the rants the Paul haters here go on...it’s unsigned.

Your#1 is BS and proves nothing except that blog posters aren’t usually very good writers.

#2 Same BS from same blog.

#3 Eric Dondero Rittberg.

What can one say about a disgruntled former employee and well known sack of slime? BTW more garbage from a hate Paul site.

#4 Article stating “So Ron Paul, who votes “no” on everything, has an affinity for earmarks. In fact, he sponsored 10 earmarks for one bill and then promptly sat out the vote or voted no.” Votes against his own earmarks? Is that why you think he is crazy?

#5 Hate filled critique of online polling favoring Paul...from the same hate Paul site.

There is not a video link to his statements that I can find.

Just assertions from more Paul haters from a hate Paul site.

Lame...your posts are lame.

You mean the John Ziegler interview?

Regarding Mall security question.

Zielger himself posited that at 25.00 minutes into the interview. It was posed in the same manner dishonest statements on here are...by twisting Pauls words.

What can one say about a disgruntled former employee and well known sack of slime? BTW more garbage from a hate Paul site.

A guy who Ron Paul fired, and presently a supporter of Rudy Gouhliani. Yeah, real unbiased source there </sarcasm> Funny that nobody else is substantiating his comment about how he persuaded Paul to vote for the resolution for use of force in Afghanistan. You'd think that with all those disgruntled Paul staffers that somebody else would verify that claim.

#4 Article stating “So Ron Paul, who votes “no” on everything, has an affinity for earmarks. In fact, he sponsored 10 earmarks for one bill and then promptly sat out the vote or voted no.” Votes against his own earmarks? Is that why you think he is crazy?

Yet nobody has come up with a single earmark request from Rep. Paul that passed. Apparently lots of other congressmen agreed with Paul on that.

There is not a video link to his statements that I can find.

i thought it was just me (i'm running Linux, and can't view .wmv stuff). Thanks for the 411 on that.

This is really beyond pathetic.

Ah...blame it on a “disgruntled staffer”! That’s the reason Ron Paul is among the BLAME AMERICA FIRST crowd.

If it’s video you’re looking for, any debate video will do. You got one thing right...the Paulite apologists are “really beyond pathetic” in their support for Al Queda’s “pull out now” point-man.

Go ahead and google Iraq War Polls and then tell me that you think that the 3 (if one is generous) of ten people who still support this Iraq nation building exercise support your candidate and the rest of the American public support mine. If so, I think mine would win in a landslide.

Better face reality. The majority of Americans strongly oppose our police actions in the ME today...and this is after the surge that was supposed to shore up support for it. Will the Republican Party pick this nation building war as it’s sword to fall on? I don’t think so and as political reality sets in I will be amused watching the backstepping of the frontrunners and those here who have picked this war hill to die on...Washington learned nothing from the Balkins...Somilia..or Kosovo...perhaps this time they will.

Rely on media polls if you must....they don’t poll any “majority of Americans”, just those who agree with the results they are pushing.

I’ll take the word of an Army Major who waited three years to be re-deployed to Iraq...he wants to be there to finish what we started so we’re not back in another 10 years...he served in the first Gulf War.

By the way, what is our “exit strategy” for Bosnia, Kosovo or any other theatre for that matter....we’re still there even after promises from BJ Clinton we’d be out “by Christmas”? How about Germany, Japan or Korea? We’re still there, and it’s not for “nation building” in case you didn’t notice.

Your posts sound just like those from the DUmpster or Daily Kooks....relying on FAILURES in Iraq to promote your own agendas.
