>The audience will be hostile. It’s going to be a farce. Anyone who participates shows a serious lack of judgement.<

Oh, so that’s why the MSM’s top four will not attend, because the audience will be hostile? LOL! The audience will hold those not in attendance in disdain, because they are being snubbed by them.

I am proud of the five who have accepted. If the questions are embarrassing, they will backfire on the questioner. It will be interesting to see how the candidates respond to the anticipated questions. I think you will be surprised. I hope this debate separates the men from the boys.

“No one should be elected president of this country in 2008 if they ignore people of color,” said Smiley. “”If they want to be president of all America they need to speak to all Americans.”

It would only be pandering if the debate was held in Ebonics. I am thinking of the spanish only debate when I write this. If folks are truly assimilated into our society, they don’t need other languages!

I don’t believe it’s a smart move for the so-called front-runners to blow this one off. The black community has a long memory and they are quite unforgiving when they feel ignored or slighted.

I didn’t care whether the candidates appeared at either debate. It’s those who considered themselves dissed by the candidates who seemed to be in a snit.

Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional.

No one's disputing that. But you haven't established a much stronger case for the unborn's right to life than the penumbras of Roe.

I think you need an amendment but we'll agree to disagree. And a thread about a minorities forum probably isn't the place to debate it.

“Also yesterday, former Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele, the chairman of GOPAC, a Republican political action committee, said in a statement that he was “hopeful” each missing candidate would “adjust his schedule” to participate.”

I’ve been saying all along that Michael Steele is my favorite choice to be Duncan Hunter’s VP.

I think the Ron Paul supporters wanting to watch this have overloaded Helloworld servers, as I can’t pick it up 50 minutes after it was suppose to start.

OMG, did we spam our own server? LOL.

“The four leading contenders, Rudolph W. Giuliani, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson, have each said they will not participate in the forum focusing on issues facing minority voters.”

And that’s why they’re in the lead. They’re the smart ones. Why pander to an interest group that is actively working to defeat your party?

I have no doubt the issues will be brought up for all the candidates along the campaign trail, and we’ll know everything we need to know before the first primary.

“Tell that to Duncan Hunter, who if you recall got applause from NALEO (the National Association of Latino Elected Officials) when he spoke of his ideas concerning border security and stopping illegal immigration. He got applause.

Duncan Hunter, who went to the Katrina HOPE Summit and told the people of New Orleans that more government entitlements were not the answer, but less government, and more individual responsibility. He got booed.

If he gets booed or applauded, at least we know that Hunter won’t be pandering.”

Good post, Ultra Sonic 007.

Duncan Hunter is tough enough to tell the New Orleans folks that they need to take personal responsibility at this point in time, but yet was kind enough to roll up his sleeves and go to New Orleans and help them out when the Katrina natural disaster first happened.

And here’s the story of when Duncan Hunter was the ONLY Republican presidential candidate with the courage to show up at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials convention.

“The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials invited all Republican presidential hopefuls to its annual convention at Disney World in Buena Vista, Fla.

Only one showed up — Rep. Duncan Hunter, of California.

A grateful audience gave Hunter a standing ovation Friday and some convention goers posed for snapshots with the congressman after his question and answer session.

Standing at the lone candidate podium which was decorated in red, white and blue, Hunter was asked about his plan to fix the nation’s immigration system.

“We need to build the fence and build it quickly,” he said.
An 854-foot fence would help national security, stop crime along the border, and protect the United States from terrorists, he said.

After the forum, he told reporters the fence would also keep people from dying in the desert of heat exhaustion.
“If 200 kids a year were dying in a canal the first thing you would do is fence it,” he said.

On Saturday, seven Democratic presidential candidates were slated to attend a forum at the NALEO conference, including Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Barack Obama of Illinois, Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, Joseph Biden of Delaware, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, and Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio.”

btw, I read on the group’s website back then that this group supported the amnesty bill, which shows just how remarkable Duncan Hunter’s courage is.

Dream on. Tavis Smiley will use the “debate” to convince blacks and Hispanics not to vote for Reps. He will make those who attend look like idiots.

Good info post Sun. I was doing some other research today and it sort of hit me what the Rudy people might be. Ignore the truth and follow their leader. Lord only knows how many of them committed posting suicide on this forum.

The ones who do not attend will look like cowards, believe me. Their nonparticipation is an insult to the black community.

As I said before, the men will be separated from the boys in this one, if what you say is true. Bring it on! :)

I don’t know why people think Rudy can fight the WOT when he is pro-ILLEGAL immigration.

As Duncan Hunter says, border security is national security.

Also, thanks for the link.

Who cares? The NAACP is just another arm of the Dem party. The only Rep who will be cheered will be Ron [the fool] Paul when he calls for the US to cut and run from Iraq and blames America for 9/11.

As I said before, the men will be separated from the boys in this one, if what you say is true. Bring it on! :)

It will be the Rep peanut gallery debating. None of the serious candidates will be there. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

No, but we must have overloaded Helloworld servers.

“Michigan Republicans convened Friday on Mackinac Island amidst a sea of Ron Paul supporters.”

I found one short article about the above, but the source is blocked here.

Did you read this one?

We just got in from spending the weekend at the Michigan GOP Leadership Conference on scenic and historic Mackinac Island. Many exciting things happened during the last few days, including an opportunity to meet my adult-hood hero, Congressman Ron Paul. I don't have time to do a full post right now but I give you some highlights.

Ron Paul had an awesome turnout from his Michigan supporters in Mackinac City on Friday. We arrived early in the afternoon, and by the time he arrived at 5:30ish in the evening, there were probably a couple hundred supporters waiting for him at the ferry dock.

When we arrived at the island, we escorted Dr. Paul through the streets of Mackinac Island to the Grand Hotel. Dr. Paul kept an amazing pace as we walked up the 'big hill' to the hotel.

Supporters met at Mary's Bistro for a great dinner. Dr. Paul made an appearance afterwards and gave a speech, signed autographs, and took pictures with us. What a statesman and gentleman.

I was on the island with my wife and six kids. We had to catch the 9pm boat back to the mainland and gathered on the dock with many (100's) of Ron Paul supporters. All of a sudden from the back of the line I hear, "Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Ron Paul"...an eruption of cheers. I turn to my left and see none other than Rudy "Terror Terror Terror" Giuliani, with about 6 or 7 people trailing. Rudy joined us (a couple of hundred Ron Paul supporters) to make the 15 minute trip back to Mackinaw City. I can only say that this was probably the longest 15 minutes in Rudy's life. More on that later...

We headed back to the island this morning and arrived just about the time Ron Paul was leaving the luncheon at the hotel to head to the Chicago Rally. We stayed on the island the rest of the day 'Ron Paulin'.

My wife picked up a 'bug' while we were on the island. For the past five months I've been talking to her about Ron Paul, and she's been a supportive partner. But I've never seen her seek out anything about Ron Paul herself. Tonight, as soon as we got home, I found her at the computer, on RonPaul2008.com, learning more about Ron Paul - she's caught the 'Ron Paul Freedom Bug'.

Wow! Ron Paul at the Mackinac Island Conference - Daily Paul

I wonder if Rudi joined in chanting "Ron Paul, Ron Paul"... LOL!

I hope we have video later of the leftwing mayor vs. the friends of liberty on that little boat ride.

Also the anti-illegal immigration message should play well there as the 4 students executed in N. J., by at least one illegal immigrant, were all going to attend this university.

WRONG........wrong University and wrong state. The students executed in NJ were attending Delaware State Univeristy.

When you have nothing of substance to say, the last resort is sophmoric name calling. You and the rest of the Paulistas are not Reps. You will have little to say once the primaries actually begin and you see where your candidate really stands among real Republicans.
