Oklahoma Teen Bitten Between Legs By K9 Cop

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- Oklahoma City police are facing allegations of brutality, after a 15-year-old boy claims officers used a K-9 to help arrest him and then bite him between his legs.
15-year-old Mark Adkins is now facing several charges after taking a joy ride in stolen car and getting into a short pursuit with police in southwest Oklahoma city. But along with the charges he's now facing an uphill battle with his health after being captured by a K-9 officer that tore away flesh along with his scrotum.
Mark says "the doctors told me they didn't think they would be able to stitch me back together."
Mark's mother, Michelle, says "he was in trauma for 7 to 9 days and I've just never seen anything like this done to a minor."
Capt. Steve McCool of the Oklahoma City Police Department says "obviously they're not trained to bite in this particular area of the body."
Officers say Mark was not handcuffed when the dog attacked, and claim the animal was just doing what it was trained to do.
Capt. Steve McCool says "you had the officer on top of the individual, they're on the ground, the guy's resisting, the dog is trying to assist the handler with this aggressive behavior the best he can."
Mark says "I can't explain how painful it was. It was like being tied up and eaten alive."
But Mark says he was no longer resisting. His mother now hopes legal action will help the police admit they were wrong.
Michelle says "there are some good officers out there and there are some bad ones, but I think in order to clean it up let these officers take responsibility for what they do to the public."
Police are still investigating the incident and as of Thursday, neither the dog nor his handler has faced any disciplinary action.
Oh well! If Mark says he wasn't resisting that should be the last word on that. Give me a break MOM, take him home when he gets out an whip his ass.
He's not hungry. He already ate.
Yep, he needs a steak to go with those oysters.
This kid needs to make a TV commercial warning kids not to be like him.
You have a joy-riding kid who evades police -- and let's think for a second how many lives are needlessly endangered when a teenager speeds away from cops -- and who then resists arrest. A tussle ensues.
And now the taxpayers have to pay his medical bills? He took a chance. he didn't think through the chance he was taking. He lost. He could have lost a lot worse, but he sure lost. I hope every kid in the state hears that when you joy-ride in a stolen car, flee from police, and then resist arrest, you are putting your reproductive future on the line.
Retrieving dogs, on the other hand, are trained to go straight for the throat . . . .
ok, two things that can be learned from “COPS” dont continue the car chase when the chopper arrives, and just lay on the ground and act nice when scooby gets there or you are going to get bit!
This is the 2nd one in two weeks.
Which is it? Can't have it both ways.
“Oklahoma Teen Bitten Between Legs By K9 Cop”
I would have figured the dog would have bitten him but whatever works for the cop I guess.
“Do you know if they train the dogs to target that area?”
I don’t know if it’s relevant to this case but when I was younger a buddy and my got caught smoking a joint and the cop called the K-9 unit to check my buddies car. The K-9 handler told us point blank, “If you have weed hidden in your pants, you had better tell me now. When I let this dog go, he’s not going to be gentle if he finds something on you.”
We didn’t have anything but if we did, you can bet we would have given it up then.
There are some on this forum who'd blame the cops; if they didn't chase him he wouldn't have sped away!
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
Perhaps the kid was wearing a Texas t-shirt.
What a pretentious PC term ‘K-9 officer’ is. What’s wrong with calling them dogs?
Just because it was not the preferred body part for this little criminal is no cause for a law suit. He needs jail time not sympathy.
Maybe the county should buy the kid a new car as well ... then he wouldn't have to steal one! Seriously though, all of this sympathy for criminals is leading this country straight down the tubes, IMHO.
