WASHINGTON, September 17, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Kathy Saile, who once gave a speech on promoting liberalism at a conference held by a pro-abortion group, has been named Director of Domestic Policy for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
Previous to the appointment, Saile was Associate Director of Public Policy for Lutheran Services in America (USA), an organization that serves the extremely liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), which recently declared that their "clergy" were free to participate in homosexual relationships.
In her official capacity as Associate Director of Public Policy for the group, Saile gave a speech at a conference held by the organization "WIN", which describes itself as "Washington's premier professional, political, and social network dedicated to empowering young, Democratic, pro-choice women." The topic of the discussion was "Did the Left Cede Heaven? The Intersection of Faith and Politics."
The summary of the conference given on WIN's website reads: "Throughout American history religion has shaped US politics. Recent history has focused on the efforts and effects of Conservative Christians in the Republican Party, but the Left continues to be a party of people of faith. This dinner will highlight the way liberal people of faith organize to further progressive causes."
LifeSiteNews has also confirmed that Lutheran Services in America supports abortion and has a policy of distributing birth control at clinics affiliated with the organization.
A request for a response from the USCCB's press spokesman, Sr. Mary Anne Walsh, was not answered at the time of publication.

The Catholic church has become a left-leaning organization. Even though this woman's beliefs go against basic church doctrine, they are putting a leftist feminist in a position to set policy.
This ties in with Priests who protest military bases. A Priest that gives amnesty in the church to an illegal. Priests who use church money to sponsor activist marches and meetings on church property. My friend was telling me that her church in Hamiliton OH is closing the school, but never seems to have trouble coming up with the money to fund activist causes.
This altruist behavior, which is harmful to the church, is why so many Catholics are being turned off from religion altogether.
“The Catholic church has become a left-leaning organization...”
~Not the Church. The doctrine of the Church has not changed. The problem is wolves have gotten into the pasture.
I won’t leave though. It’s a battle that has been going on since the beginning when Jesus declared that hell itself would not prevail against the gates of the Catholic Church.
There we go again, churches are not following the teachings of Christ, therefore misleading their flocks. Nothing new for the catholic church. As the Bible (Proverbs) says: “By the company you keep will I determine your character!”
***The Catholic church has become a left-leaning organization.***
The Catholic church has not, in any way, changed from the time Jesus founded it. The communists have infiltrated because they fear the truth and power of Jesus’ words. If you believe, then protect the Church. If you are not a believer, then give the church credit for its fight against communism.
If you are referring to Elvira Arellano, you are mistaken. She was given refuge, not amnesty which only the government can grant, by a Methodist. Time for you to get a much smaller brush.
As for the USCCB, they are collectively a group of navel gazing buffoons with very little, if any, authority.
“I wont leave though. Its a battle that has been going on since the beginning when Jesus declared that hell itself would not prevail against the gates of the Catholic Church.”
That’s true if you assume the “rock” He founded His church on was Peter.
“Not the Church. The doctrine of the Church has not changed. The problem is wolves have gotten into the pasture.”
Exactly, and we have to follow our bishops around, like sheep hounds, letting them know whenever it happens.
In the exegesis of all scripture, any doubt about a verse is settled by determining whether the verse in question agrees with the rest of scripture, or not. (God doesn’t forget what he said and so disagree with Himself)
Nowhere in all the Bible does it say Jesus Christ’s Church is founded on Peter. The very notion is absurd.
***Nowhere in all the Bible does it say Jesus Christs Church is founded on Peter. The very notion is absurd.***
Matt. 16:18-20
“Thou are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church.”
“Thou are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church.
What rock? The Greek name fr that “rock” is a little stone you could throw”.
Here’s the rock: “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; “ and:
“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” - I Peter 2:5
Peter didn’t die for your sins, nor is God making him the foundation of His Church.
What if Jesus was pointing to Himself when He said “on this Rock”?
Once again, AmChurch slaps Jesus in the face.
Come now. Read the whole story. The 'rock' was God's revelation to him that Jesus is the Christ, and Peter's witness to this.
