The only "crisis" in health care in this country is that doctors are paid too little. (Also they've come up with nothing to help that poor Dennis Kucinich.)
But the Democratic Party treats doctors like they're Klan members. They wail about how much doctors are paid and celebrate the trial lawyers who do absolutely nothing to make society better, but swoop in and steal from the most valuable members of society.

>>>Maybe to stop being constantly intimidated, threatened, insulted and mocked by Democrats? It’s not like the Republicans have ever stepped up to defend doctors.<<<
They tried a few times. Tort reform has failed in the Senate after passing in the House. It was close. President Bush said he would have signed it, but he didn’t really fight for it.
And it’s something that needs to happen. Not just for America’s doctors and our healthcare industry, but for our businesses, as well. American corporations now spend more money fighting lawsuits than they do in research & development.
Think about that. How is a technologically-oriented nation such as our own supposed to remain competitive in a business environment where we’re subsidizing lawyers more than investing in our future?
>>>And is it true that Fred Thompson is anti tort reform? Great.<<<
Yep. He’s opposed it and voted against it. He says it’s on federalist grounds, but he should know as a former-lawyer about how common venue shopping is. A lawyer can comb throught the laws of the 50 states, and if there’s a single lawsuit, he can use the laws of that state to begin looping in everyone else. It should be a federal issue, and I think that’s pretty obvious.
It’s one reason I refuse to back Thompson.
I doubt I could have this done this quickly if in Canada, Mexico, or Europe.
As a sidenote - while in Germany and Italy, I informed my wife that if something did happen to me, her, or anyone else in our group, we would need to get to the nearest military facility ASAP.
Taking the Metro yesterday, there was an ad on the train in support of national health care. The ad was from the AMA. Now, can someone please explain to me why the AMA wants national health care?
When it comes to paying taxes or health care, the libs want to model us after Europe. What do you think if we mentioned to them that Europe does not have Affirmative Action and we should thus practice what they do?
My wife and I have a variety of doctors who work within the Johns Hopkins system. These docs are fantastic! I credit one of them for keeping my wife alive for the past 14 years - when she was first dianosed with breast cancer. If they make a good salary than good for them. I would like to see the salaries of some of these journalists and news people and ask the same question to people - are they getting paid too much?
So what? Are you angry about this? I think anyone should make as much money as they can negotiate.
biff - heal thyself
Been there recently? I don't think so. What do you think is so different between European tax rates and US tax rates, especially when you throw in the facts that for the most part, education works pretty well, public transport works, and for whatever you think about European health care, life expectancy in many places is actually higher than in the US.
I am not a socialist, but don't think that that isn't what we have here. We have the tax rates of a socialist government, but just not the benefits.
Aren’t there rules here about an Ann Coulter post???
So, how does that stack up to a utility infielder, a third string NBA guard, a utility winger?
I suspect that if patients could sign insurance waivers, doctors could compete better.
Do some even minimal research, please.
Texas rates have dropped for 5 years in a row since reform of the malpractice industry.

I guess that today’s Freeper can neither read nor comprehend.
My research consists of paying medical bills and health insurance in Texas for the last eight years. Its possible that I’m the only person in Texas that has experienced an increase in costs, but I doubt it.
your personal knowledge is a bit flawed. Hubby and I are both doctors and we take home less than 20K per month combined. (and not just a little bit less)
Terminology misunderstanding: The article refers to malpractice premiums, not to your personal insurance premiums (to which the cost of malpractice premiums are only one of many contributing financial factors). I take you at your word that your personal insurance premiums have been increasing.
Actually, now that I think about it I am certain you are correct, since I read how Texas ERs are stuffed with vast numbers of illegal Mexican patients, getting "free" care (out of your wallet, since the money to treat them has to come from somewhere).
Oops, my bad. I’ve heard malpractice premiums have decreased to the point that a lot of doctors have been moving into Texas.
My point was legislators and lobbyists have been trying sell lower health care premiums as a result of malpractice caps. That hasn’t happened. The Texas legislature also told us the Lottery was going to benefit education. I have no knowledge of anyone’s shool district taxes being reduced, and this year, the Texas Plan B scholarships were ended because of a lack of funding. For these reasons, I take what “they” say with a grain of salt.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
