'Dozens died in Syria-Iran missile test'
JPost ^ | September 19, 2007

Posted on 09/19/2007 12:30:29 PM PDT by NYer

Proof of cooperation between Iran and Syria in the proliferation and development of weapons of mass destruction was brought to light Monday in Jane's Defence Weekly, which reported that dozens of Iranian engineers and 15 Syrian officers were killed in a July 23 accident in Syria.

According to the report, cited by Channel 10, the joint Syrian-Iranian team was attempting to mount a chemical warhead on a Scud missile when the explosion occurred, spreading lethal chemical agents, including sarin nerve gas.

Reports of the accident were circulated at the time; however, no details were released by the Syrian government, and there were no hints of an Iranian connection.

The report comes on the heels of criticism leveled by the Syrians at the United States, accusing it of spreading "false" claims of Syrian nuclear activity and cooperation with North Korea to excuse an alleged Israeli air incursion over the country this month.

According to globalsecurity.org, Syria is not a signatory of either the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), - an international agreement banning the production, stockpiling or use of chemical weapons - or the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

Syria began developing chemical weapons in 1973, just before the Yom Kipper War. Globalsecurity.org cites the country as having one of the most advanced chemical weapons programs in the Middle East.

Yeah, but it’s like the joke about the old guy who continually goes to the White House and asks the guard if he can see President John Kerry. The guard continually reminds him that John Kerry lost the election. Which causes the old guy to break into an enormous smile. Day after Day after Day.

Where, oh where, did all those nasty chemicals come from? Possibly gifts from the late Saddam shortly before the Iraq War started? Some of those “non-existent” WMDs?

this is obviously a case of the Syrians trying to put into use some of the WMD’s that were ex-filtrated from Iraq , by the Russians , on the eve of war.

Why we do not expose this whole thing , I do not know....

Few would believe it now anyway...
The Israelis know ...Thank God!

I admit it does seem a bit petty to hope that their last few minutes on earth were spent in agony. Especially considering their probable final destination.

If, on the other hand, some of them went to heaven instead, a little pain is of no importance to them either!

What nobody has brought up yet though, is that sarin gas and other weaponized chemicals can injure as well as kill. The deaths are just the tip of the casualty iceberg. There are probably many people who will live the rest of their lives with lung injuries - and possibly pain. That is to say nothing of executions and reprisals for incompetence. I don’t envy third world military “scientists”.

Luke
Chapter 18
9
He then addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else.
10
"Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.
11
The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, 'O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity--greedy, dishonest, adulterous--or even like this tax collector.
12
I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.'
13
But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, 'O God, be merciful to me a sinner.'
14
I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted."

No, sir or madam, my feet are most decidedly of clay but most sentient beings can recognize a moral outrage when they learn about one. My Christianity (assumption on your part) has nothing to do with it and perhaps I’ll have to answer for my outrage in my own time. But fitting chemical weapons on missiles cannot be part of God’s plan, plain and simple. They will not care a bit about the agony those downrange from their horrors face. I will sleep just fine tonight knowing that their final horror will carry over into eternity and I offer no apology for that. Let's have some good ol' Old Testament retribution.

Only a really "good" Christian would so freely condemn others.

And only a really weaselly, self righteous liberal would assume that every conservative is a christian.
