no doubt many will attack you for this post.
Let them attack away, I believe Dr. Sowell makes some good points.
Yes he did; he always, always does.
As per usual, a very thougtful article by the Doctor.
I always enjoy reading his thoughts; he’s right pretty much all the time.
Thomas Sowell is the second person in a week I know of to recommend this book. My interest is piqued.
Rings true.
thanks for posting this ...
I’m always troubled with the “we made mistakes and the suffering was “ comments.....sorry , but I am....
This decision to war in Iraq and Afghanistan was set in stone when two skyscrapers were brought to rubble.
We didn’t do it and the it never happened on American soil before.
Those that did it live in holes like badgers and under rocks like snakes
The worst part is these bastards of religion and God given rights kill in the name of ALLAH.
What we are doing is right, where we are doing it is right and why we are doing it is right. To not,is death, praise be Allah...........Allah,my ass.
Not I. Thomas Sowell's articles are always thought provoking and a great read.
There happens to be classified intelligence on Iraq & Libya and several other countries of evidence that they were part of 911. The leader of Iraq HAD to be taken OUT...the aftermath has been handled poorly until recently....those are the facts...
Where I've been in disagreement is...with handing over Iraq to the Iraqi people way to soon, they've not been capable in running their country. We've seen that for ourselves.
This is the first I’ve heard of John Agresto but if Dr. Sowell speaks well of him I’m interested in his book.
same kind of thing Patton got in trouble for after the defeat of Nazi Germany...
How the F' we're we supposed to pull this one off????
What little I know of combat and combat leadership (from watching TV) is that the best decisions made with all available information are often wrong (or at least can be perceived as such) and the most hastily, ill informed decisions can look like masterstrokes of genius.
American society needs to learn the meaning of being men, that is learning to make decisions they can live with, and living with the decisions made.
Hand wringing and Self-Analysis ain't something you do in a mortal fight. Academics make me puke.
I have to give her credit if I know what's good for me.
Well said and what Sowell pointed out about Petraeus running Mosul earlier jives with what I’ve read in the past.
I am firm in that belief, and therefore, have no problems with someone saying mistakes were made.
Mistakes are made in every war, in every peace, in every country, by everybody, etc.
I'm supporting Gen. P's efforts, even though I'm sure that someone, somewhere will be able to point out that he is making some "mistakes" (which sometimes are only in the eye of the beholder, with 20/20 hindsight).
I agree with you, fight and kill them there, which Gen. P's troops seem to be doing quite well right now.
