GUNS ARE WHAT SAVED THIS MANS LIFE!!!!! GUNS!!!! EVIL GUNS!!!!!! If only there were enough people out there with common sense to realize that a well armed society never has to be the victim.

Well there are lots of mastiff variations. But all mastiffs are descended from the dogs of war. All of them are capable of killing humans, and usually when you hear of a human killed by a dog it is one of the mastiff variations that have done it. (Children are killed by a wider variety of dogs.)

>Is this the dog in the movie “Hootch” with Tom Hanks? Great movie, btw.<

Oh! I believe you are right! Yes it was a good movie. I thought the dog was a very large pit bull.

"Dogs don’t discern like people."

Based on the number of replies blaming this incident on "pit bulls," I'd say you've overestimated the level of discernment you attribute to people...

Just so you know, you aren’t being cute.

And what of seen of you, you're not very bright and have way too much time on your hands.

I actually wouldn’t want any good sized dog mad at me.

We have a couple of Weims and my husband was taking them for a walk the other day, and a neighbor’s Australian Cattle Dog got out of their house somehow, and tore across the street and started attacking our female Weim. He did some damage to her hind quarters, and my husband had to literally beat the dog off.

Then he started after our male Weim, but my husband just let go of the leash, and the male Weim is big and fast, and outran him (luckily they were walking in a big open area so there was plenty of grass and space for our dog to get away.)

Neither of our dogs tried to defend themselves, our female usually can hold her own and chase an agressive dog off but this dog came out so fast and so suddenly, she was dazed by the attack, and the dog wouldn’t let go of her hindquarters.

So any dog, except maybe the toys, can inflict damage if they want to.

Nice personal attack that says a lot about you. Consider yourself unwelcomed, always.

The owner of the Cane Corsos says they were family dogs and that he trusts them in the house with his one-year-old child.

The usual stupid comment

Yeesh, what a story.

Cane Corso -- Italian mastiffs can be tough dogs. It still amazes me to read through the comments to see the knee jerk pitt bull comments. Then the inevitable cries to "Ban them all!"

If you have dangerous animals in the neighborhood it’s a good idea to carry a firearm with you and to shoot the animal the moment it makes an aggressive move. Do all your neighbors a favor also.

Frankly, it's a pit.

Calling a Cane Corso a pit is like calling a German Shepard a pit.

I think “The Omen” dogs were Rottweilers. This thing looks like a cross between a pit bull and a Rottweiler.

Considering this is Fort Washington, the Cane Corsos are probably owned by some thug who deals in herb on the side.

I got chewed up by a dog when I was a kid. Years later I had a neighbor who was raising a big ugly mean dog in his back yard. He was proud of the dog’s attitude and the fact that it was so dangerous.

I told him that if the dog ever got loose I would immediately kill it. He began to howl that if he could prove it that I did it I would be in trouble because he was a very dangerous man. I told him that he would not have any problem figuring out who did it because I would be hunting him next, and at that point we would find out exactly how dangerous he was.

You should have seen the look on his face. He knew that I wasn’t joking.

When dogs attack people the dogs should die and the dog’s owners should face jail time and substantial financial consequences.
