The lure of the Pitt Bull is that they are tough, mean and generate a ton of respect. They are typically owned by people who are neither tough nor generate any respect but desperately want to have those qualities.

Some folks put their egos in cars, some in guns, and some in the dogs they own. “I’m a badass. Look at my dog/car/gun”.

The answer is: the people that own pit bulls have a low self image and most are insecure about life. The killer dog makes them “somebody” in their mind. The dog gives them the macho that they lack themselves.
