DETROIT -- An elderly man and a woman were mauled to death by pit bulls in Iosco Township, Mich., on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Michigan State Police were called to a farm and found a 90-year-old man mauled to death by dogs.
The Iosco Sheriffs Department said the mans 70-year-old son went to check on his father, who was visiting the property, and found him dead in the yard.
Police said there were still pit bulls in the yard when the son arrived.
Upon further investigation, MSP found dogs had also fatally mauled a 56-year-old woman who was jogging, just west of the property.
Investigators confiscated 10 pit bulls from a nearby residence.
MSP said there are still some dangerous dogs at large in the area.
The deaths are still under investigation by MSP.
We are just never going to agree on this one. And Kalifornia is notoriously lienient on criminals. Here in ga it would have been easier to get a conviction. Dunno about fl.
It’s the exceptional case where they get a conviction, and usually for a relatively minor crime.
Then there is the obvious: whether they get convictions or not, it doesn’t seem to be working. These incidents occur relatively frequently.
Not necessarily so - read the PDF file in post 25.

Dog of Peace alert.
All dog breeds are potentially dangerous. I love dogs, and always will despite getting severe bites from 3 dogs when I was a kid. The first was a black lab that chased me while I road a skate board past his driveway. He took a chunk out of my hamstring just under my buttox.
The second was a German Shepard that might have killed me if the owners didn’t react fast. I was delivering their newspaper. The dog was in their house sitting in the hallway about 5 feet from the screen door. I opened the screen door, put the paper on the floor and turned to walk away. Before the screen door shut the dog burst through it and clamped his jaws on the back of my neck and took me to the ground. The owners came screaming from the litchen and got the dog off of me.
The third time I was at a friends house petting his cocker spaniel. I had played with this dog on many occasions. This time it up and decided to bite my hand as I was petting it. Took the nail clean off my index finger. The owners were horrified.
all these attacks occured in the 1970’s. My parents never even considered lawsuits. Blood was drawn in all three attacks. Imagine that in this day and age? I’d probably be rich.
My point:all dogs can cause damage. Dogs are carnivores, loyal pack animals, agressive, and possess the instinct to hunt game. Check out their jaws and teeth. Come on people.
That being said, I love my Swiss Mountain Dog. She’s a wonderful pet. But I would NEVER leave her alone with my two kids (age 2 and 1). NEVER.
And a Pit Bull?! Why take the chance on such a breed? Any large dog that enters my property un-supervised is asking for it. They approach my wife or kids in an aggressive manner - they’re dead. No jury in the world would convict you.
Hey, good one!
I will eat this note later, but am remembering for future reference.
One moved in next door to me.
It was kicked out of a neighboring town for biting a person there.
The destruction of any life, including those of an animal should be humane and swift.
Respect and fear are very close. The sense of one will generate the other.
I was thinking that too, but then if they were trained to fight and kill, wouldn’t they have done so to each other? Unless maybe they were family pets that had formed their own pack.
Little dogs are notorious for biting and while it hurts it is very rare that they do it outside their own territory and would extremely, rarely be fatal.
I got new neighbors last week. They have a young pitbull. They only have a fence on one side and I have already seen the dog running loose on the street and on the fairway.
Bad dogs are bad enough by themselves but when they are in packs they are vicious and think nothing of turning on humans. We kill ‘em if they are on our property. It sounds cruel but we warn new neighbors the day they move in.
I agree. I also think that this is enough to require all owners of pit bulls to obtain liability insurance in case their dogs do some damage.
And now, from the Dog of Peace file...
I wouldn’t tolerate it.
>Not necessarily so - read the PDF file in post 25.<
It’s your position, then, that a reasonable person would not conclude that large mastiff dogs, trained for attack by a convicted drug dealer, might pose a threat when handled by someone with no professional dog experience?
>Its the exceptional case where they get a conviction, and usually for a relatively minor crime.<
Holding someone criminally accountable for the actions of a dangerous dog is a fairly new concept.
>Then there is the obvious: whether they get convictions or not, it doesnt seem to be working. These incidents occur relatively frequently.<
See above. Holding individuals accountable for many crimes doesn’t eliminate the crime totally. Aren’t you being a bit unreasonable?
