I was passed by one of those bikes outbound from Portland (outbound is always my favorite direction from Portland).
Four lane highway with divider, moderate traffic moving along at about 63mph. The guy was zig zagging through at about 125mph. I expected to see the splat in the short time he was visible to me.

I had forgotten about him until about 15 minutes later when I saw he had been pulled over by a motorcycle cop. They were waiting for the tow truck for the bike and the squad car for him. Dude did not look happy. Oregon has a new law making driving over 100mph a serious crime

Chalk up one for the cops. Surprised he didn’t just run, however. He probably would have gotten away, and wouldn’t have been in much less trouble if caught.

“Oregon has a new law making driving over 100mph a serious crime.”

Such laws (we have a new one here in Ontario, too) are stupid. Guy decides to open up his car or bike on a deserted rural divided highway where there’s no real risk to anyone, gets radared, and is looking at a felony conviction, or huge fines, or both? We already had reckless and dangerous driving laws for situations such as you described. Still, the law is the law (even if it is an ass sometimes) and one should be aware of what it is, and the possible penalties, before deciding to flout it.
