Breaking: Miami-Dade Officers Hurt In Cutler Bay

(CBS4) CUTLER BAY Two Miami-Dade police officers have been injured in a so-called Tactical Operation gone bad in Cutler Bay and now there’s a massive manhunt to find the armed suspects.

Police have located what is believed to be the suspect’s vehicle at 208th Street and 109th Avenue, however, it was empty.

The suspect is described as a chubby white man with long black hair. He’s described as being armed and dangerous.

This developing story began shortly before 11:30 a.m. at SW 281st Street and 143rd Court in Cutler Bay when officers involved in a tactical operation where reportedly shot with an assault rifle.

Other officers may have also been hurt but only with minor injuries.

At least two officers have been transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

After the shooting, it’s believed one suspect barricaded himself inside a building at 280th Street and Southwest 143rd Court.

The other suspect took off in a White Honda Accord with a faded black hood, tinted windows and a broken rear window. The vehicle, with license tag W10-4TD, was traveling southbound on the turnpike.

It has been found unoccupied.

Broward County police agencies have been alerted to the shooting of the Miami-Dade Officers.

Why weird? The rifle has been around for 60 years and is the most widespread weapon in the world.

I read somewhere that both shooters were breathing air. There may be a connection. ;)

AK-47. Select fire or semi-auto? No info on that. I've been watching this on TV for about 45 min now. So far on CH 10 nobody has mentioned anything about the ethnicity of the suspects. I can see the Customs chopper hovering over a wooded area. Apparently a pool guy across the canal frantically waved to attract the helo's attention and pointed to the woods. The bird then slid sideways over the woods from the center of the canal. It seems to be unclear exactly how many suspects are in the wind. There have been reports that they have body armor. Man I have never seen so many cops on a manhunt in this area before! Local, state and federal. BSO (who lost two officers in the last month, KIA) has also offered to help. A roadblock has been set up and cars are being physically searched including the trunks of the sedans. Seems like all the officers have a sidearm (at least) in their hand. Everywhere.
