They will be heavily armed. Locked doors are not going to stop them.

Hey Glenn.

You lost, or what?

While many folks think that Beck is a reactionary, it’s prudent to research the topic, rather than rely on one source.

Did you do yours?

Yes, I’m ALWAYS reading here at FR.

It is about connecting dots. Let’s start by finding out who is buying used school buses. If their names are all or mostly Mohammed, we may have a real problem.

So they send a woman to push the button, the woman holds open the door, and the terrorists rush in.

Door locks and video are feel-good measures, that’s all. Determined terrorists are going to come in. Period.

The only threat I see is the school system itself.

I happen to teach classes about "thinking" to people who generally don't think at all, kind of like you.

That explains a lot.

There are three modes of future:

Optimism

Pessimism

Realism.

You can't seem to grasp the third mode. Perhaps you believe there is a way to think bad things away. You can't. All you can do is turtle-up worse than we already have.

Birds gotta fly. Fish gotta swim. People gotta live.

I have a youngster and I hope nothing happens to her, but I will play the odds instead of doing this odd "group think" thing where doing something is required in order to feel like you can affect the outcome.

But we can disrupt it and/or minimize the damage.

Did you read about the Beslan attack ? There were over a hundred terrorists at the school, and they established a killing zone immediately outside the school so everyone within so many meters of the school died. A second wave of terrorists were in the crowd outside, and it was those terrorists who kept any immediate rescue attempt outside, and the kids and parents inside.

Your scenario about kids escaping thru outside doors is a fantasy in that type of attack.

Thanks, Doug. I know it's about connecting the dots. Here's something I am copying over. Check this out (I think it was posted here at FR originally)

This happened, and no one did anything:

May 21, 2006

Two Saudi men board school bus in Tampa, are arrested: a case of the wrong bus, or something more serious?

I think it's plausible that someone who doesn't know America very well might mistake a school bus for a public bus. But why was one of them wearing a trench coat, in May, in Tampa, Florida? Why did they keep changing their story about why they wanted to go to the school? And why did they originally say they were from Morocco instead of admitting they were Saudis? And why has their bail been revoked (which detail comes from the Rottweiler, not the Trib story) if this were just a case of boarding the wrong bus?

"Saudi Men Who Rode School Bus Arrested," from the Tampa Tribune, with thanks to The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, who suspects this was a test run for Beslan-in-America:

TAMPA - Two Saudi men were arrested Friday after they boarded a school bus and rode to Wharton High School in New Tampa.

Students on the bus became alarmed, as did the bus driver, who called ahead. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies met the bus at the school and detained the men. No one was injured and nothing out of line occurred on the bus, deputies said.

Mana Saleh Almanajam, 23, who lives in Apt. 302 in The Point apartments, and Shaker Mohsen Alsidran, 20 Monticello Gardens, Apt. 304-A, each were charged with trespassing on school property. Both remained in Orient Road Jail on Friday evening. Bail for each was set at $250.

"Both defendants gave several versions of the reason they took a school bus to a high school," said Hillsborough County sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway.

"They said they wanted to go to Wharton to look around, and then they said they wanted to go there to have some fun, and then they said they wanted to enroll in the English classes there," Callaway said.

"We're not sure if this was a situation of them just being new to this country, or if they were confused or what it was," Callaway said. "We were unsure as to exactly what the final reason was, but it did cause great concern for the students on the bus and for us. One of the guys was wearing shorts with a black trench coat."

While on the bus, the men laughed and spoke in Arabic, Callaway said.

Ahmed Bedier, Tampa director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said the men likely meant no harm and that because "they were from Saudi Arabia, that escalated the situation."

He blamed the incident on cultural differences. "They didn't differentiate between a school bus and public transportation," he said.

The bus picked up the students and the men at about 7 a.m. Friday at the corner of Fletcher Avenue and 42nd Street, deputies said.

The bus driver, a substitute, reached her supervisors by telephone. They relayed the information to Wharton High resource Deputy Mike Eastman, who met the bus when it arrived at school at about 7:30 a.m., and detained the men.

The sheriff's Homeland Security Division, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Regional Domestic Security Task Force, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the FBI all were notified.

Almanajam and Alsidran at first told deputies they were from Morocco, but later admitted being from Saudi Arabia, deputies said. They said they were enrolled at the English Language Institute at the University of South Florida.

Both arrived in the United States about six months ago and have student visas that require them to be enrolled at the English Language Institute, Callaway said.

Authorities searched the apartments of the two men and found nothing of concern, he said.

I suspect beheading ten-year-olds will...

Bingo. Many rumors in the Russian press that this happened at Beslan. I was never able to nail it down for sure, though.

There was, however, the small boy who politely asked for a drink of water and was speared with a sword of some kind for his trouble.

There was also the boy was wearing his cross and only underwear who had a gun aimed at him by a terrorist. The terrorist said to him, "Prepare to die, Christian" and he replied "Christ is Risen" and hopped out the nearest window to safety.

And no one will fly planes into buildings, right?

Without creating a panic, aren’t you interested in finding out what your child’s school is doing? Isn’t this attack possible? We already watched it happen once. It would have been nice if someone had been paying attention to young Arab males filming big buildings.

True, and thankfully, my son’s particular school is not very accessible. There is one road in. You can get to it in the back, but you can’t drive to it (you can only get to within about a block because of homes). In that regard, we are fortunate, imo. Not all the schools are like this. Ours is blocked by terrain and development.

I see police every time I get my car washed. I will have to ask them if there are preparations for this type of attack.

Why didn't you stop that, Doug? You knew it was going to happen sooner or later, right?

You: “Oh. You mean like Y2K?”

If you attempted to make a specific point, you failed.

There was absolutely nothing Glenn Beck said that I had not seen from other sources immediately after the incidences occured. As the owner of a private school I am besieged with alerts and emergency preparation plans from innumerable sources. These sources stay on top of things because they want to sell me their emergency preparation seminars and products. In other words, they’re taking real situations and using them to try to sell me stuff.
My buttons got pushed on 9-11 and have yet to be released. Glenn Beck is simply broadcasting what I already know to people who might not yet be aware of it.

The good police departments are all training for the “Active Shooter” these days. At least their SWAT/SRT teams are. Essentially, the first 3 officers on scene are supposed to enter the school and “engage the active shooter”. Basically, it’s search-and-destroy.

“I discussed this with our elementary school several years ago.The school has detailed plans for terrorist/criminal attacks. The teachers are thoroughly prepared.
Each classroom has a door to the outside, and the school is within two miles of not only our city police, but our county police. I don’t think our schools are prime targets.”

That is great to hear about your local school. I am afraid that many school systems are not so well prepared. Shortly after 9/11 our local schools added more security plans to exsisting plans. My school (from which I retired) added locked gates so the only access is through the front office. Lockdown plans are practiced on a regular basis, but there is no armed security on campus. I do hope that school systems are doing everything they can to be prepared. I just pray that we never have another terrorist attact!
