NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ A Gulf War veteran from Tennessee who murdered four children with an assault rifle has been executed.
Death row inmate Daryl Holton was pronounced dead at 1:25 a.m. CDT Wednesday.
He is the first Tennessee inmate put to death by electrocution since 1960.
The 45-year-old Holton had confessed to shooting his three young sons and their half-sister in 1997 in the town of Shelbyville, about 50 miles south of Nashville.
Holton told police he killed the children because his ex-wife had denied him from seeing them. He also said he intended to kill his ex-wife and himself, but instead decided to turn himself in.

Like they actually need evidence for that.
I note that the article actually used the term "assault rifle" instead of the usual "assault weapon". How did that get through the iron curtain? Are we to take this as meaning the murder weapon was actually selective fire?
“....his ex-wife had denied him from seeing them.” This must have been written by a journalism school graduate.
So those 1750 volts did the job! Didn’t need 2000 volts after all!
They should have started at about 9 volts, and slowly increased the voltage until they were successful.
It musta been one of those compact flourescent chairs.
And people say there's never any good news....
Shelbyville? Isn't that right next to Springfield?
There’s nothing like the good old electric chair!
Springfield is North of Nashville, while Sheb’vul is South of Nashville. Shelbyville is pretty close to Lynchburg, though.
I hpoe it was garbage pick up day otherwise he will start to smell ripe soon.
Oh well they could always feed him to the sharks, or cut him up for pig food.
That observance deserves recognition.
Yeah sure, talk tough now... !! :-)
Yikes! Tennessee has a chair?
Yep, we have a chair, with parts of it being from the old old chair from years ago. Strange, huh?
I was so sick of hearing this on radio today. Each news story startd, with Gulf War Veteran, was put to death today.
They never quit with their digs about this war, or previous wars. Pitiful.
yes....keep that chair warmed up...there’s others on the way.....
It apparently took a “double-tap” tho...they should have kept it at 2K volts, but they were worried about politically incorrect smoke, flame and charring!! This story has a reference to “a second time”:

It’s my sincere hope he felt every bit of the pain and terror he inflicted on his helpless victims before he was put down.
And “ assualt rifle”
