Yah, I think it is a good question, even if the article is a steaming pile of . . . nonsense.
I was going to vote for the Ford Pinto in the 1970’s, as unsafe, unreliable, unattractive and uncomfortable. However, it did have the virtue of being affordable, so it could be beaten as the worst car ever.

I had a Renault 12. I think that anything that Renault touched, up to and including the AMC Alliant, should be on the list.
Ditto for anything made by Fiat after WW2.

Man I can’t agree with you more. The only good thing about the car was the large canvas sunroof. You could quickly air out the car after smoking a blunt.

Yeah, well as the proud owner (read victim) of a 1964 Triumph Spitfire let me weigh in on the car that ruined my senior year in HS.

I did enjoy the author's ability to turn a phrase, if not his ability to properly assess a vehicle's worth.
IMHO, this list is fatally flawed because it did not include this car, the 1980 AMC Eagle two-door sedan.
With it's high center of gravity, truckish steering and suspension coupled with cabin noise approaching end-of-runway levels, this car put excitement back into driving in a very negative way. Having the privilege of maintaining one for several years, it taught me the benefits of buying oil-dri in bulk.
Even the most horrible cars ever made usually had one virtue. The virtue of the 1980 AMC Eagle was its ability to venture forth in conditions no reasonably sane person would consider.

[Renault LeCar has to be in that list somewhere.]
I had the misfortune of driving my friend’s LeCar once for about 3 hours of a 10 hour trip. The left rear suspension broke loose from the vehicle while taking an off-ramp at 25 mph, leaving us stranded by the side of the road. Apparently, the LeCar isn’t designed to make slow turns to the right.

Renault LeCar has to be in that list somewhere. A co-worker of mine bought one of those horrid things. It broke down so often that he got some spray paint and masking tape and changed the "Le Car" lettering to read "Le Carcass".
