“There, that’s better. He doesn’t give a fig if the prorestants never have another kid! :)”

If you would take the time to read his writings you would learn how wrong you are.

There, that's better. He doesn't give a fig if the prorestants never have another kid! :)

That isn't what he said. Doesn't his message deserve to be evaluated on the basis of what he actually said, rather than what you think he means?

In point of fact, the Catholic objections to contraception are based in natural law, and we think it's just as wrong when Protestants (or anyone else) do it.

And, in another point of fact, Catholic Europeans and Protestant Europeans are both doing a pathetic job of reproducing themselves. The only Europeans who are making lots of babies are the Muslim ones. Christian European civilization is dying, and the only thing most of the people here can come up with are snarky comments attacking the messenger.

What's "induged"?

If you mean "indulged", how do you propose someone go about proving someone did not do something?

Reminds me of what the Muslim Turk said a few years back

Turkish president Turgut Ozal has said:

“Don’t worry, we won’t go to war with Greece. In a few years’ time, Thrace will be empty and they will be begging us to settle it”

Fortunately the Christian Orthodox Church is doing something about it...by paying extra money to families to have a 3rd child

Thank you for posting the Homily Pope Benedict gave today.

It saddens me to see the ugliness from the news forum moving to the religious forum as well. You have done a good job in refuting the attackers.

Just wanted to say hello, let you know I read your posts, and am still very happy in my decision to join the Church.
God bless you, Salvation!

‘If you would take the time to read his writings you would learn how wrong you are.’

I read it, I just don’t believe it, a bit like the Koran! :)

‘That isn’t what he said. Doesn’t his message deserve to be evaluated on the basis of what he actually said, rather than what you think he means?’

No, I reserve the right to hold my own opinions and to choose what I think people mean by what they say.

‘In point of fact, the Catholic objections to contraception are based in natural law, and we think it’s just as wrong when Protestants (or anyone else) do it.’

Just as the muslims think it’s wrong when you eat pork. Both are irrelevant to me as a non-catholic.

‘And, in another point of fact, Catholic Europeans and Protestant Europeans are both doing a pathetic job of reproducing themselves. The only Europeans who are making lots of babies are the Muslim ones.’

Interesting to consider that the UK has one of the lowest muslim populations in europe and one of the lowest catholic populations in europe, but has one of the higher birth rates in europe.

‘Christian European civilization is dying, and the only thing most of the people here can come up with are snarky comments attacking the messenger.’

He’s someone else’s messenger. If you want to take notice of him, feel free, but don’t expect those who shed the yoke of rome many centuries to do so. It’s as silly as expecting Americans to take orders from Her Majesty the Queen.

Are you ignoring what Jesus and St. Paul said about celibacy for the Kingdom on purpose? Or are you unaware of it? In which case, O joy, we of the the Scriptural Chapterandverse Cutandpaste Collective will lay it all out there for you...

Let me know, OK?

It must be wonderful to be so open-minded. Your response is the equivalent of a petulant child sticking his fingers in his ears and saying, "La-la-la I don't hear you".

The level of discourse on FR sinks lower by the day.

Each and every one was deserved by your staedfast and loyal service here.

I should also tell you that I am now attending a Tridentine Mass almost every week. Nonetheless, I have never regretted defending those Catholic faithful such as you who attend the Novus Ordo for whatever reason. Whenever the schizzies emerge from time to time to denounce the Novus Ordo or its loyal Catholic attendees, you immediately come to mind and inspire defense.

May God continue to bless you and yours.

You make a number of good points there. Quite similar to what I've read from the Pontifical Council for the Family and their allies. Right now I'm digging Allan Carlson.

I’m sorry - for a second I thought I was having a discussion with a reasonable person.

My bad.

"...prove that he has never induged."

Gosh, that's dumb. One would have had to keep Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict under strict surveillance from puberty to the present moment; or at least from his vow of celibacy to the present moment.

It's like trying to prove "'Shots' has never voted for a Socialist Workers' Party candidate." If you assert this, there's no way to disprove it. And hey, I'm willing to believe it. Stands to reason.

‘If you would take the time to read his writings you would learn how wrong you are.’

The question is whether he has said or taught that the natural and moral law that applies to Catholics, doesn't apply to Protestants; or if this would be a logical conclusion from his other teachings. This question, then, is one which could be proven or disproven through evidence; it doesn't require 'belief'.

We made up for a lot of ‘em. Have 7 of ‘em. Don’t regret a second of it, either.

Thank you Mrs. D.
And as I’m in the middle of reading Salt of the Earth, it is easy to confirm by the pope’s own words that he does not hold the view he is being accused of.

If he did hold such a view he would say so, being the bold and direct man that he is.

I wonder what it is like to have a faith so weak that someone would feel threatened by a man like Benedict?
