Asking someone to show a bit of respect for other people in public isn’t the same as enforcing sharia, and asking her to dress a bit more conservatively isn’t the same as telling her to wear a burka. By claiming it’s a sharia thing, you are trying to make this a black and white issue when there are many shades of gray between burkas and nudity.

Ever see what is sometimes worn under that ‘burhka’?

Trust me, some lingerie stores in the mideast will put Victoria’s Secret to shame.

I didn’t *claim* it was a sharia thing. I mentioned it as a possibility. The airline had no business treating her in this capricious way, given the fact that young American women dress like this quite often.

Some may not like that, but that’s the way it is. I don’t know who complained, but the flight attendent should have smiled and acted with benign neglect.

The problem is that some people’s idea of decency is stuck in the ‘50’s. There was nothing about this girl’s outfit that is shocking or risque. I can’t believe the prudishness on display here. The Church Lady would be embarrased.
