I recall an article in a liberal rag (Utne Reader) on using the flag to generate sympathy for their cause. Flash to illegal alien protests where they have US flags for media props.

Oh, that was the best—one weekend they had nothing but Mexican flags, and then a couple weeks later they had some US ones. Real cute. I don’t think anyone was fooled, though.
