I just realized after that last one that billbears has been pulling our legs..And I just realized I'm speaking with those whose history goes back no further than 1941, a common disease found within 'conservatives' these days
Politics of Japan pre 1941
Japan's first constitution - 1881
Again my statement stands. Japan and Germany both had experience with representative forms of government before WWII. Perhaps not our form but a form of representative government.

Ron Paul blames our country for 9/11. Defend that.
I can't defend Ron Paul against that anymore than I can defend the pope for being a Buddhist.

Have you ever taken a history class beyond high school?
Before WWII, Japan was probably the most thoroughly totalitarian state in the world. All dissent was effectively suppressed by 1890 with the promulgation of the Meiji constitution. Ienaga Saburo has written of the Meiji Restoration (1868): “A small elite seized power, crushed the nascent popular reformists and created an absolute state around an emperor system.”
There were very few people in Japan alive during WWII who remembered life before the Meiji constitution. The roots go back all the way to 1868 with the overthrow of the last Shogunate. Between 1868 and 1890, the country was run by, what we would describe as martial law, where even assembling for non-political purposes would subject you to death. Only to the West were there reports of how ‘free’ Japan was during this time.. The fact is that the ‘freedom’ came from a politburo type of program started by Nagazane, who issued a ‘vote’ to one person per town, who happened to be installed by Nagazane, or one of the other insiders who later created the Meiji constitution.
Japan never knew freedom of any sort until after WWII.

We sure are a prosperous bankrupt nation. My neighbors can live extravagantly on credit card debt too. The recent mortgage crisis has shown how shakey things are.
This war is incredibly expensive. Either you find someone else to help with the expense or you stop bleeding money at some point.

I see. I understand now. Because it wasn't our form of 'freedom', it wasn't really freedom. Never mind the entire historical world recognizes this form of government because it wasn't handed to them by the good ol' U.S. of A. through Wilsonian policy, it wasn't good enough.
Damn John, all that larning I done took, I could have just watched Faux News for all the historical answers I'd ever need....I pheel sTuPid....

I agree the questions were geared towards answers that many of us knew how they’d answer before they did...Tanc=Illegal question....McCain=Amnesty question....Rudy=Leadership question....Paul=Fruitcake question...etc,etc....

What is YOUR definition of ‘freedom’?
To: billbears
Comparing the Reichstag (a puppet government to Hindenburg) to anything ‘free’ is akin to Michael Moore comparing Cuba’s medical system to that in the US. A very close comparison to the Reichstag would be Chavez’s government.. Hindenburg selected who could and couldn’t vote, and limited all representation to a hand picked group of representatives that all answered to him.. again, very bad analogy on your part.
