NEW YORK -- Whoopi Goldberg started her stint on ABC's "The View" Tuesday by coming to the defense of convicted felon Michael Vick.

Just 15 minutes into the show she brought up Vick's conviction on dogfighting charges.

"You know from his background this is not an unusual thing for where he comes from," said Goldberg.

"There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of our country."

Co-host Joy Behar seemed shocked at Goldberg's statements.

"How about dog torture and dog murdering," Behar asked.

Its not a sport. A sport requires a ball or a puck. Other forms of so called sport are competitions. But as for dogfighting, its neither a sport nor competition, its plain and simple brutallity.

How about this kid?

I don’t think the advertisers/endorsers want to be associated with a dog torture apologist.

Exhibit A: Nike.

I never thought I would ever hear myself say I agree with Joy Bahar on ANYTHING but here she is spot on. Goldberg, as usual, is talking through her butt.

I have lived in the south my entire life and fighting dogs for sport is NOT PART OF OUR CULTURE. People in the south love their dogs, sometimes more than their spouses.

Goldberg is a native born Noo Yawkah who probably never lived in the south for any reasonable period of time, except perhaps when they were filming one of her many pathetic movies. She moved from Manhatten to Kalifornia when she was in her twenties I believe. Of course not having any real world experience never stops anyone in Hezbollahwood from making “authoratative” statements about anything.

They simply replaced one loudmouthed, liberal, useful idiot with another.

Precisely. Let’s call it what it really is......it is not a sport, but rather a sociopathic behavior.

I was more impressed that Rosie O’Donnell’s replacement doesn’t have a grasp of the English language. Must be indicative of or endemic to something...

The same could have been said decades ago to justify Klansmen in the south hanging blacks. Would that excuse it?

Whoopie, you are a fool. Please go away.

She just called the black people I know and call friends uncivilized and bad-tempered and incapable of compassion for defenseless animals. That pisses me off. I don’t associate with those who take pleasure out of lesser creatures’ pain...I dont associate with those who are calloused towards life. She just insulted me AND the high character people I know. B***H.

So if you are from a culture where cutting off heads is common it’s OK? How about genital mutilation? Taking drugs? Drive by shootings? By this standard all activity can be rationalized.

Notice that this great tolerance for social deviancy doesn’t stop the libs from condemning people who come from cultures where hunting of gun ownership is common. They still condemn the founding fathers for owning slaves (common hundreds of years ago).

Actually, Whoopie is right in a way. Haven’t we all been flamed for this, for saying certain things are cultural, even if they aren’t right?

I disagree that makes it less of a wrong, but it’s very politcally incorrect to say certain bad things are part of a culture. That’s a lib cardinal sin nowadays. No wonder Behar went off on her.

The problem is, she seems to be talking a Southern culture, and I would point more to a gangsta thing.

In one sense, I see where Whoopi is coming from, she sees the liberalism of the Democrat Party as some kind of plantation for black folk which it is. And she would like to escape that plantation, but I question whether an establishment MSM entity like the View will offer asylum to someone off the liberal plantation by defending Vick, any more than it could continue to offer asylum to Rosie who left the plantation, by publicly voicing the latent hatred of Christians that is very much a part of liberalism, but to stay on the plantation, it is understood that it must go publicly undeclared.

What’s the surprise? Black people defended OJ. A black jury let him off, and blacks across the country cheered when he got away with double murders. To far too many blacks, race transcends guilt.

Drinking Coffee "This is part of his cultural upbringing," said Goldberg.

I wonder what her opinion is of the "cultural upbringing" of Columbian drug lords, Sicilian mafia types or Mississippi KKK types.

Sorry, absolutely no comparison. People who box are fully cognizant of the risks they are undertaking.

The dogs never asked to be a part of any fight.

“Another leftist fool apologizing for a criminal.”

“”You know from his background this is not an unusual thing for where he comes from,” said Goldberg.

“There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of our country.”’

You know, while I am no Lefty and certainly no defender of Whoopie, I did not read her comment (above) as an apology. It seemed to me that she was merely making a statement or expressing her opinion, that’s all.

I am NOT a supporter or an apologist for Vick or Whoopie. But, dog fighting is not as rare an event as many urban and suburban Americans may think. While not common, it is not unheard of or extremely rare in certain rural southern and southwestern communities, among certain whites, blacks, and hispanics. Before unloading on me, please re-read my opening statement; I am NOT condoning dog fighting, just making an observation about the fact of dog fighting, that’s all. Btw, don’t be surprised with what the NFL turns up with their own internal investigation. I have heard some comments on tv that suggests there may be several more players on several different teams who may have participated in this sort of thing. Stay tuned....
