Terri Schiavo's Family Continues Effort to Block Jack Kevorkian UF Speech
Life News ^ | 9/3/07 | Steven Ertelt

Gainesville, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The family of Terri Schiavo is continuing its efforts to block a speech by Jack Kevorkian scheduled for the middle of next month. The speech would be the first for the former assisted suicide crusader following his release from prison for killing a disabled man and showing the death on national television.

Kevorkian would speak to students at the University of Florida on October 11 and receive $50,000 for the talk, as long as his parole officers approve the trip.

The family of Terri Schiavo has been leading an effort to stop the speech by gathering petitions from concerned citizens so Kevorkian doesn't get a platform in their home state.

They don't want the former pathologist telling students that people with disabilities should be killed, like their sister, rather than receiving appropriate medical treatment or rehabilitative care.

Bobby Schindler, Terri's brother, told LifeNews.com, "We have collected thousands of petitions (and they are still coming in) to deliver to the Office of the President of the University of Florida."

"We're demanding the University rescind its offer to pay $50,000 for Kevorkian to address the students," he added.

"Despite the ongoing message of death spreading through our society and those, like Jack Kevorkian, who attempt to justify killing the most vulnerable among us, we are committed to fight against this death-obsessed culture and spread Terri's legacy of life, hope and love," Schindler explained.

He said there is still time for pro-life people and others worried about Kevorkian's pro-assisted suicide message to sign a petition asking the University of Florida to cancel the speech.

The petition can be found at the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation web site.

And the media mouse snarls and snaps...

.........................

The onetime ultimate D.C insider, Dick Morris recently brandished the allegation that Fred Thompson is awkward in answering questions. What a hoot coming from the guy that Chris Matthews kicked off the air and out of the Hardball studio -- probably the only guy ever to receive such treatment from Matthews -- for defaming Catholicism. But aside from the pot calling the kettle black issue, Morris accidentally put his finger on the thing that middle Americans get about Thompson which beltway insiders don't: substance over image and the difference between the two.

Morris finds fault with Thompson because:
I find it refreshing. Most politicians who do not know the specifics of a particular subject would merely answer with platitudes, misdirection, or broad generalizations. How often do we hear a politician say "I don't know"? I personally would much rather hear that said then a five minute dissertation of painfully obvious drivel. He could have answered the Shiavo question with something inane like "It's always an unfortunate tragedy when a young person suffers a debilitating disease or injury" if he did not know the specifics.  That's the kind of response the politicos expect and that middle America balks at.

Dick Morris doesn't like Fred Thompson

Time is not on our side here.

Noteworthy is the huge impact Terri's Legacy has made and continues to make...

The polemics come just as the Vatican again weighed in on euthanasia. The Church's doctrinal office released a one-page document, approved by Benedict, that denounced the cutting off of food and water to patients in a vegetative state even if they would never regain consciousness. This reaffirmed John Paul's stance in 2004 during the battle over ending artificial feeding for the severely brain-damaged Terri Schiavo, who was later taken off her feeding tube and died.

"The administration of food and water even by artificial means is, in principle, an ordinary means of preserving life," said the Vatican ruling, which came in response to questions from the U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference about what constitutes ordinary and extraordinary life support.

Something in Kansas tests the limits of our ability to comprehend lunacy...

Thread by wagglebee.

The implications of the original ruling are devastating. Even though the abortionist's case was dismissed, this impression that reporting is discretionary remains," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "This means that abortion mills will continue to cover up incidents of suspected underage child sex in order to protect child predators, as they have for years in Kansas."

A case in point was that of Robert Estrada, who was convicted of raping his two young step-daughters and impregnating them a total of four times. The first pregnancy resulted in an abortion on one of the girls at age 12 at a Wichita abortion clinic where Zaremski worked. Because Zaremski and his staff refused to report the sexual abuse, it was allowed to continue on for years.

"The case was misrepresented in the media as a 'kiss and tell' case that would endanger the privacy of teens, and was never completely understood by the general public," said Newman. "Abortionist are hiding child sexual predators on a daily basis and young girls who should be protected are exploited and abused. They have effectively made Kansas a safe haven for child rapists and declared 'open season' on little girls."

Senator Brownback...

Thread by wagglebee.

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Sam Brownback, the Kansas senator and Republican presidential candidate, has introduced a new bill that would require abortion practitioners to perform an ultrasound and allow women contemplating an abortion to see the pictures of their unborn child. The hope is that it will persuade many women to keep their baby.

The Ultrasound Informed Consent Act is similar to bills lawmakers in states like Texas, South Carolina and Georgia have proposed.

Their father is the father of lies.

Thread by wagglebee.

AMARILLO, Texas, Sept. 21 /Christian Newswire/ -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today commented on an Illinois judge’s ruling that a new Planned Parenthood facility there cannot open pending an investigation into the truthfulness of building permits filed by the abortion provider.

"It's not surprising that Planned Parenthood lies. Lying and killing always go together. Aurora residents are rightly indignant that their community was deceived. They should be even more outraged that Planned Parenthood intends to kill children in this facility," Fr. Pavone added. "For that reason, the facility has no moral right to open at all."

In contrast to item in post #622 above, we have this thread by wagglebee...

VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 20, 2007 (Zenit.org).- The final voiced prayer of Pope John Paul II was an act of profound asceticism, said his personal physician.

Dr. Renato Buzzonetti said the Pope's last words were "the prayer of a saint that loved life until the good Lord called him to himself," reported an article Sunday in Italy's La Republica newspaper.

The doctor continued: "Pope John Paul II was cared for until the last moment of his life, when at 9:37 p.m. on April 2, 2005, he breathed his last.

"It is true that he had previously told his doctors, 'Let me go to the Lord.' But that was an ascetic phrase, an elevated form of a final prayer of a man who was suffering a great deal and felt the strong desire to draw close to the Heavenly Father.

"It was certainly not a renunciation or a form of anticipated surrender of life. Nor was it an invitation to physicians caring for him to pull the plug or to discontinue care, a sort of indirect choice for euthanasia, as some are insinuating. Whoever believes this, is wrong."

John Paul II "Profoundly Loved" His Life

At the very least, the Vatican has stretched the definition of what “natural death” means to include the use of medical technology unavailable even a generation ago. And some will find that troubling.

This is an outright LIE. Feeding tubes have been used for centuries (animal intestines were used), the problems that existed with them then were that infections developed quickly. Modern plastics and antibiotics have solved that.

By this death culter's logic, giving someone penicillin for an infection is prolonging "natural death" and someone who wears glasses or contact lenses is somehow using technology that prolongs "natural blindness."

ALERT: C-SPAN RIGHT NOW. Judge Greer is at an ABA Meeting on a panel dated August 10, 2007. He was so scared. It WAS ALL ABOUT HIM. The Sheriff told him that he was in the crosshairs. DUH. What about A BARBARIC MURDER BY HIS HAND??????? TERRI SCHINDLER SCHIAVO WAS IN THE CROSSHAIRS, NOT HIM. Greer can re-write history all he wants. When he arrives in HELL someday, he can tell it over and over and over.

The NY Times moderator told him oh, that was such a horrible experience for you!

Then the MONSTER GREER said in closing "Terri Schiavo finally passed on the last day of March, 2005." (he's an actor and put his head down unconvincingly as if that made him sad). He said he couldn't believe the amount of law enforcement (well, HE ORDERED IT.) It was all about Greer, not a wit about Terri except the day she died. EXECUTIONER'S REMORSE? No, not yet...

TERRI WAS MURDERED.

Now a Judge Eileen O'Neil is complaining about RANDALL TERRY. He handed her a fetus and she laughs that she became the anti-christ after that day. Ya know, there may be more than one anti-christ?

This Judge Eileen O'Neil is an abort judge. She is ranting on and on about Randall Terry. She was papered by good people. She's mocking good people at this ABA Forum. Texas District Crt Judge 1991 to 1994. Her soul was condemned to hell per her.

Laughter in the aba function.

JUDGE GREER SUGGESTION TO THE PANEL. Personal security and systemic.

The ROBBER AND EXECUTIONER OF THE DISABLED SAID, "My case is a little later than the judge to my left. Distinguish between the mainstream media and the bloggers... The msm pretty much got it right. Cameras in the courtroom, hearings toward the end just several each week. That helped disseminate what was actually going on. The bloggers could take a kernel and turn it into an entire cornfield. They have their own base and that's what everybody hears about. It's unethical for me to tell you what my party affiliation is." (GOP).

So, that's his justification? MSM v. bloggers. IT RUINED HIS SUMMER TO RUN FOR RE-ELECTION.

The mainstream media was PROPAGANDIZING FOR HIM.

He's a murderer and once again, he's not mentioned TERRI SCHIAVO. He just said NYT moderator is msm. LOL

(oh, he's got a big bottle of spring water w/him). San Francisco Meeting - he belongs in San Francisco. He should STAY THERE... end of show

FV Says: What was actually going on was

http://www.judgegeorgegreer.com and he is a CORRUPT JUDGE. Wake up Amerika. Buy some Terri books. She was murdered. Do we need to find the videotape again where she follows instructions and where she laughs? That is not PVS or comatose.

He's a lyin' b-trd.

FINALLY, WE DO NOT HAVE OUR OWN BASE unless he means mean God. Thou Shalt Not Kill. I was hungry and you fed me. Stuff like that.

He KILLED TERRI but before he got to do that, running for re-election and CHEATING with the Sheriff, the Public Defender and the State Attorney ruined his summer. FV

Freepers, lurkers, et al. Please TELL honest media about NANCY GRANT. A Florida Judge has made a case against her out of thin air. The DeSoto County Jail system is holding people without charges indefinitely. She found out. They are retaliating against her. She's facing PRISON because she's a whistleblower.

We the People has a Tampa Bay group. They're trying to help her but, J. Haworth put a gag order on her which makes no sense at all. There are no secrets - the judge just wants to silence her so the prosecutor can convince the jury she's guilty of something.

PRISON. Where's WND? Where's Alan Keyes' organization? Where's Christian Broadcasting Network? Hello, out there... Prison for being a whistleblower in Florida. If you hate judicial tyranny, please help Nancy Grant. Think of something. Thanks, FV

When the GOP dropped Terri like kittens into a river, hoardes of republicans said they were through with the GOP cuz they didn’t protect Terri. LEAVE IT TO THE MEDIA TO GET IT BACKWARDS. They must be death cultists or they’d stop lying about why people left the GOP. It was when the intervention was HALTED and Terri was murdered that people went indy or quit donating to the RNC.”””””

Need we be reminded we were in the heart of the Scientology world as the atrocity against Terri played out? Practitioners of their religion came to demonstrate, not on the side of Terri, but on the other side. When we were in the area of the courthouse and Judge Greer, we also absorbed the jeers and body language from these people. Their presence around us all throughout was bone chilling.

Hear it from Clearwater...

Today, downtown Clearwater is an international Scientology stronghold and a destination for elite members (including celebrity devotees like Tom Cruise and John Travolta) who come from all over the world for the highest levels of the church's spiritual training.

The empire's thumbprint on the downtown corridor is considerable and conspicuous, from the uniformed church workers on the streets every day to the two dozen or so Scientology-owned buildings and other properties in the low-slung skyline, many of them fully or partially exempt from property taxes.

Scientology's gem is the new seven-story Flag Building, which covers a full city block just down the street from the county courthouse where the Terri Schiavo legal drama played out a few years ago. Also known as the "Super Power Building," it will be the largest Scientology structure in the world when completed late next year and is expected to draw thousands more visiting believers to Clearwater.

Clearwater comes to terms with its status as Scientology's mecca

As I said yesterday and before, the media, especially the lefties won't let go of the Terri issue with Fred Thompson. They are back again today.

By any reasonable measure, Fred Thompson, the actor-lobbyist-presidential candidate, is off to a rough start. Particularly on policy matters, Thompson has been confused and uninformed about everything from Social Security policy to drilling the Everglades for oil to the 2005 Schiavo controversy.

~Snip~

As for Thompson’s troubles, the Politico’s Mike Allen notes that the former senator’s campaign has been “plagued by errors.” Someone has even apparently started maintaining a “Thompson’s Gaffe-a-Day Calendar” to memorialize the sayings of candidate

~Snip~

* In Florida, where the Terri Schiavo feeding-tube case was a cause celebre two years ago, Thompson told the Tampa area’s Bay News 9 that he couldn’t pass judgment and added: “That’s going back in history. I don’t remember the details of it.” […]

Oh, that Jena Six

The St. Petersburg Times reminds us, too, and with a positive note, at that.

Yes, the 65-year-old lawyer/lobbyist/actor was vague or uninformed about some key issues like Terri Schiavo, offshore drilling and a national catastrophic fund while campaigning in Florida. Yes, Thompson had a languid pace of campaigning, with lots of hours driving on a cushy campaign bus between occasional events. No, he's not a riveting orator.

Where voters live, Thompson matters
