I’m pretty much self employed now. I’m looking for something else because of my stay in the hospital. My health insurance sucks. I could’ve been ruined totally. Now I want what the union boys got and the government employees got. Pensions and health insurance are really a big deal to poor people. Since My savings is all gone now(almost), I could use a pension really bad. I still got my IRA money but that’s not real comforting.
But yes, I’m very thrifty. That’s probably partly why I don’t do so well in the dating arena.
Just because you haven't done something yet doesn't mean you can't do it.
You think you're past your prime?
There was a guy who one day had his 65th birthday. He realized that he had never done anything particularly notable in his entire life, and now it was pretty much over.
In fact, he got his first social security check. And the more he thought about it, the more ticked he got that the US government was telling him he was done and it was time to be put out to pasture.
About the only thing this 65-year-old guy had to work with was a recipe he liked. So he hit the road in his car, living off of his social security money, and went around and started pitching his recipe to restaurant owners, to see if he could cut a deal where a restaurant owner would use his recipe and pay him a bit of royalty-type income for doing so.
In fact, I'm pretty sure he slept in his car.
The first guy he tried didn't buy it.
Nor did the second.
Or the third.
Well, this was getting nowhere. But he kept trying.
He was turned down at the 4th place.
And the 5th.
And the 10th.
And the 20th.
And the 50th.
And the 100th.
And the 200th.
And the 300th.
He pitched his recipe to over a thousand restaurant owners, and the answer was always the same.
"No, thanks."
And then, after pitching a stupid chicken recipe to over 1000 restaurant owners, he found one guy who liked the recipe and agreed to pay him a few cents every time he sold a chicken cooked using that recipe.
And that, my friend, was the beginning of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and the starting point of Colonel Harlan Sander's fortune.
You may not want to hear this, but in spite of the fact that circumstances may knock us down at times, and in spite of the fact that they may hold us down for a period of time (and I know from my own personal experience what I'm talking about here), the ultimate creator of your life is you.
This is both bad news for you and good news. Bad news because it means you can't really blame circumstances any more for where you are now, but GOOD news because you're about to find the power to change your whole life.
You want to know why you haven't found a wife yet (and why you are GOING to find a wife in the future)?
It's not because of how much money you have or don't have. It's because of the thoughts you have been thinking so far. And it's because of the way you are going to change your thinking, and change your life.
I'm going to give you a short assignment here. It starts with a very short book that I'm 98% sure you've never read. And if you have read it, you haven't yet taken the information to heart.
1. The book is "As A Man Thinketh," by James Allen. It's only about 35 pages long. You can get it for free, right now, by doing a google search.
2. When you've finished that one, and taken it to heart, and begin acting on it, you may want to read "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.
3. There are a LOT of other good materials out there, but start with those two.
If you don't just read them, but do them, your life is going to dramatically change. Maybe not by Christmas. But I guarantee you that your life can and will be dramatically different.
I believe you're going to end up well off, married, with a wife and kids. Why do I believe this? Because in spite of where you are right now, I know that you can do it. The only question is whether you will do it. And you determine that, by repeatedly and constantly telling yourself what you're going to do, and resolving with all of your determination to keep persevering until you achieve it, no matter how long it might take.

Remember: Harlan Sanders was 65 years old. He was far older than you, not as smart or as skilled as you, and all he had was a recipe for fried chicken.
If he did what he did, then you can turn your whole life around and make it what you want it to be.

What about the elderly?
Someone’s going to have to create a position for me. But I don’t know who would do such a thing. Plant assistant manager of maintenance of some small manufacturing facility maybe, like a bakery or a bottling company. I don’t know.
There are three things common to all Self Imposed Artificial Barriers to success.
1 - They are Self Imposed.
2 - They are Artificial
3 - They are Barriers.
Stop saying what you can’t do. Knock that crap off and go out and do it. Also; the ladies see that negative crap a mile away. That’s the reason you aren’t married. Women don’t want to hear you run yourself down. They want to do it for you (SARC)!
The first thing you need is confidence. It will help you with both career and romance.

As I perused the big local very lib paper in may part of the country, I lnoticed the opinion page was filled with articles about how "strapped" average Americans were and how difficult it was to live in this awful country since the Republicans got into power. There was an article with an interview of the operator of one of the local food banks decrying the lessening of foodstuffs being sent to the pantry and (I quote) "as the economy worsens" things were going get really bad for all those starving, jobless average Americans who supposedly are clogging the street corners with tin cups in their outstretched hands begging for pennies or scraps of food.
The impression left on the casual, ignorant reader is that America is in the midst of another great depression with ninety percent of the population unable to feed, or house itself. Utter balderdash.
You're not poor, you're only "poor" relative to some other people. I'd suggest getting rid of a few of your motor vehicles. Really poor people don't have money for three.
What about them? This isn't an age-based discussion by any stretch, so I'm afraid I don't get your point.

The government employee unions usually insist that anybody making less than $100,000 a year is living in poverty and therefore, should not be expected to have to work at their jobs on top of being insulted with such meager pay.
See how many poor in other countries have TVs be it color or black & white. Having a TV doesn’t make you rich but almost definately can exclude you from what I consider poor. Being able to spend part of your budget on entertainment alone almost removes the aspect of ‘poor’ from the book. Lower class? Yes. Poor? No.
We pay deli & meat counter staff $9-11/hr + benefits in most of our locations and we’re not the only grocery store paying those amounts. Try cutting meat and you can up your pay to $14-$18/hr + benefits. Varies in our different regions slightly but that’s the average.
Poor and lower class are not really synomymous. Your definition of ‘poor’ is the general lower class. The bar for lower class is indeed raised every year. However, poor generally means struggling to even live. A poor person would not have cable television, cell phone, and eat 3 meals a day. A lower class person (in America) could.
What would I gain by getting rid of vehicles? I need a truck to work. I need a car for cheaper transportation when not working. I could get rid of the bike but what is the point? It costs $175 per year for taxes and about the same for insurance. Gas is nothing for a bike.
I suggest you get a clue before you tell me what to sell.
I'll get a clue when you stop whining about your less than dire situation. I seriously doubt you need all the things you think you "need".

When we were going through extreme financial hardship, we got a lot of stupid advice, and some of it was truly classic. There was one person who advised me to sell my (worthless) computer that I was using to help search for jobs. Another idiot advised me to sell our old vehicles and move from our house to an apartment... which would have cost us more than the house we were staying in, and left us totally without transportation.
You can improve your situation financially, and you can find the right woman as well. She's out there. My wife came from a well-off family, was very well educated, and was making a shockingly huge amount of money herself when I met her (close to twice what I was making).
At the time we met, I lived in a tiny apartment, and had been so broke that I had had to borrow money just to buy some cheap clothes. I drove an old car with no paint on it.
My future wife initially wrote me off because of the quality of clothes we wore. But in the end, she didn't marry my clothes or my tiny apartment, or my old junk car - she married me.
In any event, I've already given you some of the keys. I was going to ask whether you're taking my advice?
