Who the h3ll are you to tell me what I can do without? Sure, I could be a total idiot and sell off everything, then I’d have no means to earn an income and I could go live in a homeless shelter. Is that what you’d like to hear? Would that help your self image? The fact is everything I own is basically junk anyway. Most of it I couldn’t give away. But it works for me since I’m not very style conscious or worry about appearances. I don’t because I can’t afford to. People on public assistance look at my stuff and turn their noses up at it. That is the absolute truth. That is pretty much all I need to know to determine that I am poor. I get so sick of women I think are date-able tell me they couldn't live in a place like mine. And why do they say that? Because they don't like the old run down furniture and the silly grandma-ish wall paper and floor coverings and drapes. It's all I can do to keep the roof patched and the gutters straight and the windows glazed and the cracks in the foundation filled and prop the garage up so it won't fall down while trying to rebuild my savings for the next emergency...like building a new garage or installing a new furnace or replacing a vehicle when it dies. There's no time or money left for placating petty females. So they move on to someone that has a little more than I...or they just get knocked up and let the government take care of them.

When we were going through extreme financial hardship, we got a lot of stupid advice, and some of it was truly classic. There was one person who advised me to sell my (worthless) computer that I was using to help search for jobs. Another idiot advised me to sell our old vehicles and move from our house to an apartment... which would have cost us more than the house we were staying in, and left us totally without transportation.

You can improve your situation financially, and you can find the right woman as well. She's out there. My wife came from a well-off family, was very well educated, and was making a shockingly huge amount of money herself when I met her (close to twice what I was making).

At the time we met, I lived in a tiny apartment, and had been so broke that I had had to borrow money just to buy some cheap clothes. I drove an old car with no paint on it.

My future wife initially wrote me off because of the quality of clothes we wore. But in the end, she didn't marry my clothes or my tiny apartment, or my old junk car - she married me.

In any event, I've already given you some of the keys. I was going to ask whether you're taking my advice?
