Solicitation is offering money for services. As far as I know the congressman didn’t do that. Perhaps you have info we don’t have. If he did what the cop said, he made an advance toward another guy (subtle advance in my mind, I wouldn’t have had a clue what the signal meant, and most of the guys I’ve asked didn’t know either). The cop doesn’t appear to have asked him to stop. So, what do we have? Flirtation. Are you suggesting that should be illegal? Are you in agreement with our crazy sexual harassment laws as well?
susie
Engaging in activity intended to end in sodomy in a public restroom is not acceptable, and in MN is illegal.
Think of it as conspiracy to commit sodomy in a public restroom.
[he made an advance toward another guy]
Advance?
This isn’t “Hey let’s go back to my place” it’s, “Hey come on over to my stall and we’ll do sodomy in a public restroom”
Not

Exactly
And you know that’s what it was, how?
He did NOT commit sodomy in a public restroom by anyone’s account. The officers account says he was solicited. As far as I know there were no words to that effect exchanged. If you’re not disturbed by this, then you are likely not disturbed by our nutty sexual harassment laws either.
I had no idea people could be arrested because an officer thought they made a signal that suggested they wanted to have sex with them. I also had no idea how many people think that’s ok.
susie
Well, then this has been educational for you. That’s good.
[I also had no idea how many people think thats ok.]
Tolerance has limits.
When you actually have something of import to say, please ping me. Otherwise, I’ve pretty much said what I think and apparently you have too. I think you’re wrong, you think I’m wrong. That about sums it up.
susie
[That about sums it up.]

Don’t be embarrassed.
susie
[Thanks for that clarification]
I won’t say my pleasure as none of this is pleasant at all.
But you are welcome.
VxH...I know you won’t move on...
brytlea: “Unfortunately I dont think we can arrest people because of what we think they *might* do. I havent seen any evidence that Craig did anything illegal.
We can’t. I haven’t seen any evidence either.
What kinds of things do homosexuals do in public restrooms? Obscene and offensive things.
I can’t believe you actually made the above statement...
“Part of the purpose of Free Republic IS to oppose the homosexual agenda.”
Do you agree with that purpose?”
How does the homosexual agenda fit in with this ongoing discussion regarding the law? The above posters and I have been quite clear in making a coherent argument regarding the law and the legal system.
Due process, innocent until proven guilty...the Constitution of the United States...people cannot be arrested and jailed because they may or may not be homosexual...no matter how much you want them to be.
In a nutshell. Thank you.
susie
All I can tell from this case is that George Costanza was right. The toilet stall doors (and walls) should come all the way down to the floor.
[Due process, innocent until proven guilty...]
He waived his right to due process by pleading guilty.
[What kinds of things do homosexuals do in public restrooms? Obscene and offensive things.
I cant believe you actually made the above statement...]
Reality does not depend upon what you can or can’t believe.
“In a nutshell. Thank you.”
You’re welcome.
Staggering to encounter on this board the mindset of those who would have fit in well with the Salem Witch trial folks...
He pled guilty to misconduct.
[What kinds of things do homosexuals do in public restrooms? Obscene and offensive things.)
“Reality does not depend upon what you can or cant believe.”
In your mind all homsexuals do obsence and offensive things in public restrooms...
Well, you’ve made your thoughts perfectly clear.
[Well, youve made your thoughts perfectly clear.]
On that we can agree.
