Hello Dalai, goodbye reincarnation (China outlaws reincarnation)

China has just announced that reincarnation has now been outlawed, mainly to get rid of the habit of those pesky Dalai Lamas popping up every 70 years or so just to give them trouble. It should also take care of all the people walking around China claiming to be reincarnations of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Napoleon or Chairman Mao's second cousin.

As we all know from "South Park," the real Dalai Lama escaped from his home in Tibet some time ago, and unless he really is a god, he is getting ready for his reincarnation.

You can't blame the Chinese for not wanting to have to deal with another brutal public annihilation of an entire country. Killing a whole nation of Buddhists might have been easy once, but now they have more important things to do – like persecuting Christians. There are just so many persecutions one can do in a decade, so it's best just to write a law and stop the whole mess.

After all, when the Chinese went into Tibet to take over, they obviously did not expect the Dalai Lama to be like all the other leaders on the earth, running away from harm's way while his people were being slaughter and murdered. No, he was on a royal Lama donkey with his protective priests, riding over mountains into Richard Gere-land, to live another day.

That escape was not exactly a good PR moment for the Chinese.

There is the question that enters ones mind about reincarnation; if the Dalia Lama really believes in reincarnation as he says he does, why didn't he just stick around Tibet and face death with the rest of his people? His soul would have instantly found another vessel to crawl into, probably in the very next village.

To me, the following paragraph in the article is the best :

------------------------------------------------------

The ever popular Dalai Lama has his own place in New York, thanks to Richard Gere. The actor likes the Dalai Lama so much that he sacrificed his marriage to Cindy Crawford by taking her one too many times to the Himalayan boonies to sit and scratch bugs off her beauty mark while he meditated. He probably figured he could meet up with her in his next life. Cindy did not care to wait that long.

We’ll have no more of that! Wonder how they might possibly plan to enforce something that doesn’t happen.

“So we finish 18, and he’s gonna stiff me. So I say ‘Hey, Llama, how about a little somethin’, you know, for the effort?’ He said to me ‘there won’t be any money, but on your deathbed, you will receive total conciseness,’ so I’ve got that going for me.”

I agree with that scripture, but the Chinese government will just outlaw the afterlife.

Or you could make the same argument about the bulletproofing of the Popemobile. I think it is using common sense myself and don't judge or condemn either action. While the Chinese are at it, why don't they just outlaw God and be done with it.

I know a guy named Dolly. He makes cheese from llama milk. The Dolly Llama Cheese Company.

"It is appointed onto man once to die and then the judgment. Hebrews 9:27

His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:

Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

ROTFLMAO! Ya’ll are cracking me up!

You’d think the Chinese would be satisfied with the mere destruction of every temple in Tibet and the rape of nearly every nun equivalent there.

Maybe they’re angry because all their destruction caused Tibetan artifacts to soar in value, unlike the CRAP the Chinese turn out!!!

They’re angry at anything they can’t control, which includes eternity, so they just outlaw it. John Lennon wrote a song about it, “Imagine”.

I saw a comedian talking about those “Free Tibet” bumper stickers that you always see. He said, what do they expect me to do? Make a phone call? “Hey, it’s me. Yeah, Tibet, free it. I’m serious. Free it.”

I’m getting to the point where I don’t like persons of Asian descent. There are many where I live who will walk right at you like you are invisible, making you move out of their way. It’s very dehumizing, the way they act toward other people.

I think that's fine. As I said on another thread, I don't like redheads because they're so damn cheap. One redhead has been hounding me for $20 that a borrowed from him two weeks ago. Don't be so cheap, I keep telling him. But that's the way of redheads. And I don't mind saying so.

You’re hilarious! But have you considered that it may not be the red hair as much as the freckles that makes him cheap? ;o)

This is a stupid mean and frankly, dishonest article on the Dahli Llama and Buddhism in general. What was the Dalhi Llama supposed to do? Wait for the Chinese to come in and put a bullet in his head and then tell everybody that he was under house arrest? He has done so much more for the Tibetan cause by escaping and setting up an enclave in INdia. I really don’t undrstand what the author is trying to convey in this article. Is it humor? A dig on Richard Gere? The Chinese? Buddhism in general? Really stupid article that does The Llama or Buddhism no favors.

I appreciate your correcting me. What I should have said is that the world isn’t the polite place it used to be, period. And that isn’t something that has anything at all to do with ethnicity, whatsoever. As you have so well illustrated, thank you.
