Vick's next role is an unsavory one: Government informant

The plea agreement is 11 pages long, the summary of facts another 10. But the endgame for Michael Vick can be reduced to one simple goal: Stay out of prison, no matter what the cost.

According to federal documents, Vick will cooperate in full with federal prosecutors to tell them everything he knows. To save his hide, he becomes an informant.

He may be called a snitch, but aiding federal authorities is the most honorable thing for this disgraced man to do at this late date. It could even be the beginning of his redemption.

For a moment late Thursday night, when the crawl line across the television screen announced the breaking news that Vick would not admit to killing dogs or gambling on dogfights, it appeared the government's case had fallen apart, that somehow Vick was prepared to stand defiant in defense of his past actions and future.

But that was merely an exercise in language massage. The truth is different, hard and justly unsympathetic.

Vick's admissions in the summary of facts filed in federal court Friday are purposely murky. Perhaps they are worded to persuade an angry NFL commissioner about to drop the hammer of a major suspension that Vick isn't quite as guilty as he once appeared. (Didn't work, apparently. Roger Goodell suspended him indefinitely later in the day.) Maybe they are intended to create an additional shade of doubt in those die-hard fans who don't want to believe Vick is the sort of man capable of electrocuting, drowning and shooting another living creature. Or maybe the words are difficult to understand simply because they were written by lawyers. But do not be fooled:

Sweeeet would be if Vick went to jail.

Looks like that won’t happen.

As to becoming an informant, he’ll lie.

Wonder if that's what the rapper DMX was thinking yesterday?

The reason Vick was a good player and not a great player is he is just DUMB. He has the physical ability but not the smarts and a fool with money will always get in trouble.

Lowest of the low. Only a true coward can torture animals.

Sweeeet would be if Vick went to jail.

Letting all the thug-wannabees that admire him know he's now a just another snitch is a lot sweeter.

He won’t snitch. The NFL doesn’t want to hear about any other players who gamble. Vick will lie. He won’t name NFL names and he certainly can’t snitch on the mob. It’s over. He won.

This is a high profile, make one’s career case for all of the Fed’s invo;ved.
I’m sure he’ll rat out others. There is no omerta with the ganstas. Besides, being a fink is part and parcel to any sentance reduction.

If he lies about knowing other NFL-er and the it comes out, the Feds will void his deal and he’ll be back in the slammer

He’ll snitch. He has to. Just coincidence that DMX’s house was raided and the pit bulls taken?

He won’t play again in the NFL. He is now a branded snitch. Tiki Barber said it plainly last week. If he rolls, he will never be trusted by the players again. There is no way any teammate will want to be near him now.

He can try to hide it all he wants but he also agreed to a polygraph. Good luck with it.

I hope you are right.

If he walks there are a bunch of people who had their pets stolen and God knows what ever happened to them. They will make his life miserable. He won’t be able to go to a restaurant or walk down the street without hearing barking noises.

According to the feds, he'll snitch.

But if he doesn't, he goes to jail.

I look at it as a win-win.

To tell you the truth, I’m not certain many of his former teammates were close to him. Vick always ran “with his own posse”, and that didn’t include many Atlanta Falcons. i.e.; Vick was out for Vick, and to hell with everyone else.

Too damned bad. Ron should have thought about that before he got into the dogfight game.

Depends on what ring they’re aiming at. The problem with these criminal organizations is they’re like mobiles, each ring connects to another ring higher up. Sure Vick setup this kennel and it’s fights, but who connected him to other kennels for dogs to fight with?

Let’s wait until he actually gets sentenced before we decide he’s been let off easy. So far he hasn’t been let off at all.

I heard someone on the radio yesterday insinuate that the state of Virginia plans on prosecuting him after the Feds are through. I sure hope so.

Before getting in a state of righteous indignation because ESPN says Vick might not do jail time keep in mind that the day before the indictment was announced ESPN said he wasn’t going to be indicted at all. ESPN’s sources have a long history of sucking when reporting anything more complex than last minute trades.

The full article is beyond horrible. What sick demented monsters. Vick and his co-torturers should get an eye for an eye sentence.

If Vick turns states' evidence and implicates any enterprises which happen to be controlled by organized crime, I don't think Vick will live long enough to enjoy his bought freedom. I'm sure the underworld would have some imaginative ways of getting revenge...
