The plea agreement is 11 pages long, the summary of facts another 10. But the endgame for Michael Vick can be reduced to one simple goal: Stay out of prison, no matter what the cost.
According to federal documents, Vick will cooperate in full with federal prosecutors to tell them everything he knows. To save his hide, he becomes an informant.
He may be called a snitch, but aiding federal authorities is the most honorable thing for this disgraced man to do at this late date. It could even be the beginning of his redemption.
For a moment late Thursday night, when the crawl line across the television screen announced the breaking news that Vick would not admit to killing dogs or gambling on dogfights, it appeared the government's case had fallen apart, that somehow Vick was prepared to stand defiant in defense of his past actions and future.
But that was merely an exercise in language massage. The truth is different, hard and justly unsympathetic.
Vick's admissions in the summary of facts filed in federal court Friday are purposely murky. Perhaps they are worded to persuade an angry NFL commissioner about to drop the hammer of a major suspension that Vick isn't quite as guilty as he once appeared. (Didn't work, apparently. Roger Goodell suspended him indefinitely later in the day.) Maybe they are intended to create an additional shade of doubt in those die-hard fans who don't want to believe Vick is the sort of man capable of electrocuting, drowning and shooting another living creature. Or maybe the words are difficult to understand simply because they were written by lawyers. But do not be fooled:

Anyone that can take pleasure from the torture of animals will get the same pleasure from your torture. Scum like Vick should be culled from the human race.
Smear Vick with tuna juice and put him in a cage with a dozen tigers.
All I have to say is that since he enjoys seeing caged animals fight then he will love prison.
Damn lucky for OJ that he didn't carve up a dog while doing in his most famous victims!
The full article is beyond horrible. What sick demented monsters. Vick and his co-torturers should get an eye for an eye sentence.
There ya go!
No, lucky for him that he didn't have the Fed's on his case and not those incompetent State Prosecutors.
This won’t go over well with his gangsta hero’s. Big man on campus turns snitch.
The case was thrown as soon as the decision was made to hold it in LA instead of Brentwood, using an LA jury pool, who would not have convicted OJ if they had full color video of him doing the act
This is accurate. Evidence was never germaine to the case.
Vick is perniciously evil to the absolute core. As to becoming an informant, he’ll lie. Pure and simple. He has no remorse. He has no feelings. He has no intention of being anything other than he always has been: a gangsta thug.

What’s he gonna do; snitch on his drug dealers or fellow dog killers?
That and there is a real concern in the league that he has dirt on other NFL players who are involved.
Since when do they make this deal with the ring leader. It is the guy at the top that you get accomplises to help you nail. Here they are give the ring leader a deal to help them catch him.
They let him off easy. More special treatment for the rich and famous. Disgusting corrupt land we live in. The prosecutor is a joke and if I had his telephone number I would call his office and tell him he should save the BS, no one believes it.
No jail time for Vick. He'll be playing next year.
So much for the old story about first in line to plea. His accomplices will be going to jail, you can be sure.
As far as journalism goes, ESPN is a bunch of crap. The network depends on professional sports to stay in existence. All attempts at real journalism that might upset the fans are stifled.
How much journalistic integrity is there in a network that would hire Keith Olbermann?
