As long as you promise to take Bill O’ Reilly and Sean Penn with you. Then repatriation and reparations are very negotiable.

When jimmy came back home he was surprised that they were gone
He asked me all the details of the train that they went on
Some people they are scared to croak but jimmy drank until he choked
And he took the road for heaven in the morning

This is very interesting. I watched a programme about these guys on RTE (Irish) TV only a few weeks back. The programme focused on the harsh story of these young men and the search for their bodies, which had not yet been found.

Thanks bamahead. I'd be surprised if any conclusion could be reached that wasn't purest speculation, so I'll add mine -- the deaths were related to the heat of summer, and possibly resulted from food poisoning.

Quite a story. Thanks for posting.
I found this interesting as well...
http://www.historyplace.com/worldhistory/famine/america.htm
“By the time of Kennedy’s victory, descendants of the Famine immigrants were steadily leaving the old Irish working-class neighborhoods of Boston, New York and other cities and settling into the new suburbs sprouting across America. Irish Americans, three or four generations removed from their Famine forebears, now preferred a more generic middle-class American lifestyle complete with manicured lawns and backyard barbecues. Some of them even converted to Republicanism and wound up voting for another ‘Irishman’ named Ronald Reagan for president.”

I had ancestors living in Pennsylvania at the time. I remember some of the family lore mentioning a bunch of Irish rail road workers being killed by a bad batch of homemade booze as a warning to only buy the good stuff.
To: Colosis
I’d never heard of this particular incident, although we’ve seen programs about the Irish railroad builders in general.
My grandfather came here from Londonderry in 1920 and was a railroad worker in Philadelphia.

I think just about every picture of him (Shane McGowan, lead singer of the Pogues) features a burnt to the filter, unsmoked cig, and a drink in his hand. I’ve seen the Pogues perform twice back in the late 80’s early 90’s and McGowan was falling down drunk both times...

Sounds like they are hoping to find evidence that will turn the tide in favor of illegal immigration and illegal immigrant rights better than than those for the rest of us. How so?. This has nothing to do with illegal immigration. These were are legal immigrants

Patti hit town in a cloud of dust
Ol’ Flame was buzzin’ like a saw
And the whole town got quiet as a church
When the killer stepped out for the draw
Forty shots rang out
Forty people fell
Patti and the killer missed each other
But they shot that town to h**l!
