I think I have written here before over FR that one of the interesting things about Libertarians for me was reading their willingness to vote Democrat or throw their vote down holes and tell others to do the same here at times (which benefits Democrats).

Once while discussing an upcoming election with a couple of friends who are completely liberal democrats, I commented that I was an independent and was planning on voting for a "third party" candidate.

Both became quite agitated and shouted that by voting for a third party candidate I was going to be helping the republican candidate..........

Now I hear from you that a vote for an independent candidate benefits the democrats...........

you can't both be right..............right?

Depends on if a Libertarian is a big lib or more a conservative.

If Libertarians in theory were conservative and they were to throw their vote away on third parties who haven’t a chance in hell of winning an election, then they are indeed helping Democrats by not voting for the Republicans... If they were ever conservative.

If a Democrat thinks a Libertarian is a big liberal, and you vote your third party throw away vote, then from their view you did not vote for them and that benefited Republicans.

IMO Independents are mostly all liberals. They might like to hang out with conservatives and talk tough, but they seem to mostly vote like hippies or welfare recipients.
