It’s a shame when the legal system is betting on things.
Embattled Superior Court Judge Thomas Vena -- the guy who cut the bail of illegal alien Jose Carranza on the docket for 31 counts of raping a 5-year-old girl (and is now charged with murdering three Newark students shot execution-style) got tenure just two months ago, which means he can serve until 2022.
Vena, a Democrat and a career government lawyer with close ties to several key Democrat political leaders including New Jersey Senate President Richard Codey. Republican Governor Christine Todd Whitman appointed Vena to serve as a state Administrative Law Judge in 1998, and on October 23, 2000 as a Superior Court Judge.
Democrat Governor Jon Corzine reappointed Vena for a tenured term on May 24, 2007. Vena's renomination came seven days after Vena reduced Jose Lachira Carranza's bail from $300,000 to $150,000, allowing the alleged murder with a history of violent crime, to return to the streets.
Vena was on vacation that week, but according to published reports, stopped into the office to sign the bail reduction order.
Last week, Sen Codey---among the group of politicians that advocated Vena's appointments-----strongly criticized Vena's decision, and asked the state AG to investigate why Vena made a unilateral decision without input from the office of the Essex County Prosecutor.
The Prosecutor, Paula Dow, did not contact the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding Vena's actions during the three weeks that preceeded the Senate confirmation vote on Vena's tenured term.

Margarita Rivera (assistant Essex County prosecutor mishandled Carranzas 31 counts of child rape which set him free to kill)
Riveral, Vena, Dow and the rest are The Machine appointees---meaning they take orders from The Political Machine (or else).
Would be interesting to see Corzine, Codey, Dow, Rivera, and Vena's phone records and emails to see which of The Machine politicians sent orders to let rapist Carranza go free..........b/c it's beginning to look an awful lot like The Machine did not want Dow, Rivera, and Vena to screw up their latino voting bloc by jailing Carranza.
