Were you in Alvin for Claudette?
I will never forget a couple of calls we got over night. One, about 2 am from a neighbor that we should go out in the downpour to removed boards from our fences because the water was falling so hard that our yards were becoming swimming pools. The next one from my sister around 4 am saying that they were airlifting people off the roofs of their condos not a mile away from us.
We rode up and down parts of FM 518 in a friend's flat bottom boat just so we could try to get in to work in Clear Lake City.
No. Lot’s of people in the “know” around here worried even though the models keep dropping. Unless changes happen we may start a voluntary evacuation of the special needs folk tomorrow. There is about a 50 car line for sand bags. I feel for the decision makers. It’s hard to win. If they call for an evacuation and the storm doesn’t come, lots of money will be lost and some will be very unhappy. If they don’t call for an evacuation and we get hit though.....
