Im glad you liked it, I probably spend way too much time watching time lapse weather videos on youtube. heheh

Looking at the loop it looks like the eye of Dean will at most scrape the southern end of the island...but its still going to be so close I doubt people there will consider themselves spared of anything.

The majority refuse to go to a shelter; afraid of looters.

Is Jamaica a no gun zone, for it's law abiding citizens I mean. Criminals always have guns where they've been outlawed.

Have they shut down the electricity?

The Weather Channel announced a while ago that they did. I suppose it's wise to try to prevent additional damage, but it's going to be hard on all those people who were busy buying milk yesterday. I did wonder about that--I'd be buying water, myself.

Of course, it's easy to talk in faraway Colorado. Drought and blizzards are all we normally have to deal with here, and I'd take either one over a hurricane. Thanks for this excellent thread, NautiNurse, and anyone in the path of this hurrican has my prayers.

Generally, the Bermuda High. In this case, at long radius, so the current “arc” appears to be a striaght line. The further Dean travels, the more apparant the component of northward arc should become.

Cancun is NOT out of the woods.

Later on, neither is, well, anyone on the Gulf, from the Yucatan, Mexico, around Texas through Lousiana, and at the extreme end of the probability spectrum, even Ft. Myers.

The models show North American landfall anywhere from the yucatan through New Orleans.

Wait and watch is about all we can do.

Things are about to get crazy here.

I’m highly confident I’ve figured out the failure sequence of the I-35 bridge, the evidence I’ve uncovered and pieced together is very pursuasive. I have a lot of work to do to get it together well enough to post, Monday or Tuesday, and then will have to defend the conclusions and answer questions.

With that event over and done, and potential lives at risk with Dean, Dean will take precedence, but not while over water, well away from landfall.

Great name! Hope all the Freepers in Oklahoma are okay. Looks like some bad flooding.

Yes I believe ordinary Jamaicans (non-criminals) cannot have guns or ammunition in their possession. Criminals can of course have both.

Criminals can of course have both.

Thank you. That's usually how it plays out when guns are banned.

No. Lot’s of people in the “know” around here worried even though the models keep dropping. Unless changes happen we may start a voluntary evacuation of the special needs folk tomorrow. There is about a 50 car line for sand bags. I feel for the decision makers. It’s hard to win. If they call for an evacuation and the storm doesn’t come, lots of money will be lost and some will be very unhappy. If they don’t call for an evacuation and we get hit though.....
