I doubt that Ron Paul would get 9% of strictly Republican votes.

When he ran (as a Libertarian) for POTUS in 1988 he was much less insane than he is now and he got less than one half of one percent of the vote.

He would not get that much now.

I am forced to agree with you.

I’ve stayed on the sidelines so far, reading up on Congressman Paul. He may not be completely batty, but he’s sure putting up a good imitation. He reminds me of that odd uncle that one sees at family reunions but nobody really talks about.

He actually reminds me of one of my wife’s several times removed cousins who went to Vietnam and came back with psychological and drug problems and was never quite right since. You can hold a conversation with him - he’s quite chatty - but his attention span is short and he wanders around various topics and is a tad paranoid about various oppressive groups.

Imagine Congressman Paul with long scraggly hair and it’s a reasonable approximation.
