average age of the pilots was somewhere between 55-60.The Bear stays up so long, that the 55 year-olds will be 60 when they land. Vladisvostok to Guantanamo and back at 350 km/hr, let's see, that's what, about 5 years?

I wonder how many they had to canibalize to get that many flying?

Are airplane engines like car engines where, if you dont use em. the seals dry up and the engines are at risk of self-destruction? Yes. They probably canibalized three for every one they got flying. All machinery is like that--use it or lose it. Seal rot, rust developes, oxidation begins, etc.

...similar scenario with China and our Wal Mart shoppers

He concludes that it was the Soviet Union which defeated the Nazi war machine, with the British and Americans providing little more than a sound supporting role in the European theatre. Lest he seem a revisionist leftist or left-over Stalinist or a cranky anti-American, he is not. As an Oxford don who made his reputation with Gods Playground, a fine history of Poland, he simply wants a history stripped of nationalistic bias. Europe at War is the latest installment in his efforts to emphasise the importance of the peripheries in contemporary history.

That is amazing about the sonar profile. I’m guessing the crews now use noise-cancelling headsets, purchased from buddies at the PRC.

Uhm, all of this gloating and nonsense is just that. Mine is bigger than yours. No, mine is bigger than yours. What you are posting is a moment in time. If you come back and read what you posted in 30 years you won’t ever believe how much has changed. I have no idea what will happen, but things always change!

Their bombers are newer than ours. At least B-52s.

I worry that those manning NORAD may be as arrogant as most of these FReepers. Having old bombers doesn’t really matter. Last I checked they have plenty of nukes. My point in all of this is that it is dangerous to underestimate ones advesary. More importantly, we really should do what we can to keep Russia a friendly, or somewhat friendly, country. We have enough problems to deal with.

Can you really be so ignorant. Oh wait, yes, you can.

similar scenario with China and our Wal Mart shoppersWal*Mart may be the most conspicuous but look on the shelves of any store and you will see the same. Certainly you don't think Wal*Mart buys all of China's exports.

Putin is a real worry. Once a commie, ALWAYS a commie. Russia is only restarting to do something that the US has been doing non-stop. Americans have no room to complain.

Some actually do have “CCCP” on the sides of them.

We need more F-22’s because Russia is building PAK-FA and China the J-xx, both scheduled to become operational before the end of the decade. Both of these aircraft are knockoffs of the F-22 and F-23 airframes.
