This guy needs a kick in the balls.
Anyone catch that the caller called Guiliani Sean’s guy?
Are you allowed to play in poker tournaments?
There are militant Mormons out there too Sir - and they do a lot of damage to what people think of the religion. As I’ve raised my five girls I’ve told them over and over again that the gospel is right and true, and not to judge the church by the people in it . .
Probably depends on whether or not they’re strip. I honestly don’t know - I think some people have a problem with cards because of the “environment” they’re played in - silly to me, if you’re strong in your convictions you will be wherever you are. I grew up spending summers with my paternal grandparents, and used to play a lot with them and their OLD friends. I would chatter throughout the game (which I learned later isn’t welcome to serious players) and then win, which they didn’t like.
Getting back to politics - I think this is what is going to be Romney’s downfall.
He’s going to need so much time and energy trying to explain the misconceptions the general doofus voters have about the LDS and TV shows like “Big Love” are not helping .. then again HBO is rather moonbat (Bill Maher for example) anyway. I’m sure by the time the liberal spin machine and moonbat bloggers are done if Romney is elected the capital is moving to SLC and he’ll take orders from the head Mormon.
Same thing as I understand it they said about JFK being a catholic. Only he was Democrat and there are no standards or morals that apply to Democrats.
I don’t see it as gambling.
Right .. that’s not gambling, but a RETURN on your INVESTMENT!! that excuse works for me all the time.
Depends on your definition, whether you consider “games of skill” gambling or not.
IF you’re pulling a lever on a slot machine that’s gambling. If you’re betting on a horse race or sporting event ... yes that’s gambling.
Poker in my opinion is skill. Like Kenny Rogers “you got to know when hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em”. I win money (usually) at the end of triennial sessions in billiards league depending on how well the team placed. Its not like we lay money on the pool table speculating on whether a shot is made or not.
Here’s a nice moonbat blog posting:
George Bush did not win in 2000. He was annointed by the Supremes. And that court has gotten two votes more-far-right since then. Have you been living under a rock? Recent decisions on abortion rights, educational equity and lender rights, should tell us a great deal about their bent.
Trust me, those of us who read SCOTUS decisions for a hobby, know that Bush v Gore 2000, will go down in history as one of the worst-decided cases ever. Sandra Day O’Connor is rumored to be saying just that in her memoirs, now being written. She regrets her decision, it is alleged.
Never forget, Chief Rehnquist thought himself so regal that he had his title changed: from Chief Justice (PERIOD) to “Chief Justice of the United States.” And he designed that unflattering robe and beanie he wore. Good Lord it’s clear there were no gay men within five miels of THAT fashion faux pas.
Yeah, I think the religion will keep him out of the running. Too many people think we’re not Christian or that we’re a cult. I watch “Big Love”, I think it’s hysterical, but then I know the difference in what they practice and what true Mormonism is. Some shows have shown a bishop who lives across the street who is suspicious of them and they’re afraid he’ll turn them in to authorities, but probably most people who watch think they’re mainstream Mormons.
I’ll tell you several co-workers watch that show and they thought they were Mormons. One went so far as to say “the name was changed to Fundamentalists to prevent lawsuits by the Mormon Church”.
Now some kids will win a trophy and some won’t based on their skill...is that gambling?
I look at Texas Holdem tournaments exactly the same way, some win some lose but it was a level playing field at the beginning and the one who has the best skills win.
My family loves that game so much we got Mr. N a pretty little silver suitcase thingie (deluxe version I guess) for Christmas. I agree with you, it’s all a matter of whether or not you can control yourself, but that’s true with anything, including food.
No its not gambling. It’s skill. Besides that $10 trophy is nothing compared to the $50 entry fee.
Oh well, guess we can’t go around putting out fires everywhere. I’m sure I probably have a lot of misconceptions about different things too. My husband was a bishop for 6 years, and even though it was a huge sacrifice for our family, his eyes were so opened it was amazing. He now knows that there are not only two sides to every story, sometimes there are 58 sides.
Nice to see you, CD.
