I am writing about an issue that concerns me greatly. I reside in Southern MN and, like everyone in this area, was shocked and saddened by the recent tragedy that has occurred in Minneapolis. The Phelps Family of the Westboro Baptist Church (or "WBC") in Topeka, KS, the same who picketed funerals of fallen soldiers back from Iraq, plans to picket the funerals of the victims of the bridge collapse. I am severely outraged at this disrespectful display of hate, and I am certain that others would feel the same way were they to know of these plans. I am telling you this in hopes that this will be made public, and that others will be inspired to take legal and respectful action to deter any additional trauma to the families of these victims. Below is a link where you may find the flier that advertises the intentions of the "WBC" to protest and preach at the funerals of these innocent people.

I agree with you 100%. Just because the expression of an opinion comes from an ignoramus does not mean that the opinion is any less protected. That’s what’s so beautiful about free speech - they have the right to spout their side, and I have the right to counteract them just as loudly.
Thanks for the link, I guess. What raving nutters. In fact, beyond raving nutters into full psychopath territory.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we had the option of picketing a mass funeral of the Phelps family.
They're as powerful as Bush who can control the weather.
They don't unless they are just looking for a reason to hate Christians.
Um, forgive me if I missed something but what the hey is Phelps protesting ABOUT? These people have got to be the biggest weirdos in the U.S. (excluding Britney, Paris, et al).
No, you mean, it’s the Jooz and Bush.
Phelps’s family should’ve had him committed 40 years ago.
I’m kinda surprised that so called ‘church’ hasn’t been burnt to the ground while their traipsing around the country making jackasses out of themselves, and torturing the family’s of the dead....

Don’t worry, no one will be protesting when these “church” biggots are placed into the ground, in fact, I suspect a few folks will relieve themselves on their bones.
The horrible Phelps family are the EPITOME of “Do Not Take the Lord’s Name in Vain”!! They SAY they are doing this in tthe name of Jesus, but it’s just the opposite!
Hmmmm. I wasn’t even aware of these turds til after 2000.
Thanks.
Can I get an AMEN! brother? :-)
I have been fighting WBC for sometime on the internet, and I recommend if you want to understand the Phelps, you need to fully understand the sadism of the old man.
Two devastating exposes about the Phelps are: LOVING GOD’S HATE and ADDICTED TO HATE. Loving God’s Hate is an expose by the Topeka Capitol-Journal, and has been on thier website for years. Addicted to Hate is a similar, but not identical expose that was incorporated into trial transcripts.
Now, for some items Phelps doesn’t want you to know. According to several of his estranged children, Phelps severely and frequently abused his children physically and mentally; Phelps was disbarred by both the Kansas Supreme Court and the Federal Courts for repeatedly violating ethics standards; Phelps was sued by several businesses who he owed large sums of money. One candy vendor was owed more than $5,000 for products delivered. The report further states the Phelps children were forced to sell the candy door-to- door until late into the evening and in bad weather. The pressure to produce money was so intense, some of the children were forced to steal to avoid being punished.
Several of the Phelps children are attorneys, but Phelps has never sued for libel. I wonder why?
Google Addicted to Hate and Loving God’s Hate to read what Phelps doesn’t want you to know about him.
As you are reading, keep in mind Phelps has never sued for libel!
