T'wit, FReeper extraordinaire, has died.
self | August 5, 2007 | 8mmMauser

Posted on 08/05/2007 3:55:55 AM PDT by 8mmMauser

A great FReeper and close friend passed. T’wit, also known as Timothy Wheeler passed on. In tribute, I would like to make this the August thread of Terri Dailies, the topic foremost in T’wit thoughts.

Tim was a man of great faith, a faith that grew stronger especially in recent months. As I type this, I still am not yet coherent, as I try to awaken and sip a good coffee brought to me recently by Tim. In his usual fashion, he probably figured I would appreciate a little care package and would appreciate the better quality than the usual fare we would fix.

But I do not want this thread to be maudlin, nor a reminiscing on anecdotes, rather a stab at what Tim would want.

T’wit was passionate about the beauty of nature, of good books, good music, and intellectual challenge, but mostly he was passionate about his love for our America, for Jim Robinson’s FreeRepublic, and for our fight for those in the plight of Terri Schiavo. For the latter, he sought justice and fervently hoped and prayed we on Terri’s List would carry on this battle against the evils of those who would control who lived and died.

In our many talks, he would sound like a poster boy for all the stated position of Jim Robinson.

His wife told me last evening the final thoughts he had. As can be expected, it was for us to continue our fight as we have done already. She hoped that rather than flowers or donations sent, that donations be directed at causes like that supporting Terri’s Legacy, the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation. In this way, we remember him and further his wishes. T’wit and I talked a lot about faith and I can reassure all, his faith in Our Lord was strong and growing stronger, a comfort to me that he carried it to the end.

My words come out with difficulty this morning, but should flow better later, although without the word play and banter we would sometimes engage, at least for now. T’wit would be upset if I quit the puns for long, though.

We will continue our prayers for T'wit and his wife and family.

What Americans want...

Is this it?

We have the fantasies of the far left on display. They must be fantasies for the most part, a wish that the silent and pliable masses, targets of their condescending comtempt, will follow the fences into the narrow confines of capture with hardly a squeal.

For to translate their rubbery words into real meaning for normal people, it sounds like a used car scam of the lowest order.

Americans in their view (should, hopefully,) want illegals to continue their invasion of our country, to spread their crimes and allow for us to happily pick up the tab for their support. We (should) want gay marriages and the further splitting asunder of the core family unit upon which this America was built. We (should) want to dump God and rely instead on being our own little gods and manage this world, ah yes, Mother Earth, properly as only man can do. We (should) rejoice in the wholesale slaughter of the unborn and sacrifice them on an alter which would put to shame those feeble attempts of other peoples in the past like the Aztecs. We(should) rejoice in our State sponsored Right-to-Kill of those we deem unworthy, useless eaters, or futile, the more innocent the victims the better. And finally we should relinquish the Earth to the true inheritors of Earth, the animals, serpents, spiders, and truly deserving, as we humans bow out (elite leftists excluded for awhile of course...).

We (should) embrace this as the embodiment of evil in its ultimate victory as we (should) honor our father, the father of lies.

Or not...

What should be more worrisome to the likes of Colety are nationwide surveys about voter attitudes. The Economist reported earlier this month that the issues that people care about are "tipping the Democrats' way." Pointing to fresh results from the highly respected Pew Research center, the magazine wrote that Americans are professing more social concern for each other - even where acting on such concern would cost them more money; they want less belligerence (think about the failed effort at immigration reform and the antagonistic gay-marriage controversy), and they reflect less religious intensity (consider the show-stopping abortion and Terri Schiavo debates).

Not her mess anymore

But they keep forgetting to mention the reason the spotlight turned on them in the first place. DSS was insisting on having Haleigh killed for spare parts,

I still wonder when this supposedly family-oriented agency will allow little Haleigh out of her cell in the shadows and permit family and others to see how she is doing. But, DSS are the covetous owners of this property and so far are keeping Haleigh under wraps. At least we haven't heard otherwise.

..............................

"Ninety-five percent of the families we deal with, we're straight with them, we tell them what has to be done, and we get a positive outcome," said Dr. McClain, now wrapping up his second month on the job. "Only a small percentage of situations ... get a terrible outcome."

One of those small percentages was the death last week, apparently by shaken baby syndrome, of 10-month-old Josiah Pacheco, whose family had an "open file" with DSS. Josiah's mother's live-in boyfriend, Manuel Antonio Lopez, has been charged with assault and battery on a child causing injury and could face murder charges.

Dr. McClain contends his department had followed the proper procedures in determining that Joshua and his 4-year-old sister, now in DSS custody, were in no imminent danger.

~Snip~

Previous notorious cases elsewhere in the state — most notably those of Haleigh Poutre, an 11-year-old girl beaten into a coma while under the care of DSS, and Rebecca Riley, a 4-year-old who died of an overdose of prescription medicine four years after DSS opened a file on her family — have plagued the department and may have played a key role in the dismissal of former commissioner Harry Spence in May.

Abuse cases shine light on DSS

Aw...really?

Wagglebee thread on an IRS attack...

WICHITA, Kan. — The pastor of a conservative Christian church being investigated by the Internal Revenue Service said the threat of losing its tax-exempt status will not stop the church from fighting abortion.

“We will continue regardless of what the IRS does,” said Rev. Mark Holick, pastor of Spirit One Christian Center. “We will continue to obey the Lord.” Holick told reporters Aug. 16 that the church, which has about 150 members, is being investigated for political involvement simply because it speaks against abortion. He called the investigation a violation of the church’s First Amendment rights. Under federal tax law, churches can discuss politics but can lose their tax-exempt status if they endorse candidates or parties.

An important thread by amdgmary!

Read the latest on Judge Greer.

More than two years after enraging right-wing groups by ordering Terry Schiavo's feeding tube removed, George Greer still peers over his shoulder nervously at times.

In fact, the Florida judge told a rapt audience Friday at the American Bar Association's annual meeting, he even used an alias when he registered at his San Francisco hotel on this trip.

How much outrage can judges commit before we finally shout "Enough."?

I am starting to see the branch of the Judiciary as in part a lethal implementation of the most cherished destructions in the liberal playbook.

Thread from MissEdie. Thanks, narses.

In Kansas judge Matthew Dowd had before him one Orlando Cisneros convicted of raping and sodomising a 14 year old girl. How long is that worth in jail, 15 or 20 years?? Not in Kansas. Judge Dowd put this animal on probation, which he has already violated. Think someone is going to die at the hands of Mr. Cisneros? Absolutely.

Maryland, already a Liberal hotbed after the scandalous affair involving Judge Savage, now has one almost to equal it. Judge Joseph Manck had before him a scumbag who had raped his 8 year old daughter for 2 years. Manck sentenced him to 4 months probation. Later, Manck had before him one Matthew Dieterle. He was convicted of an assault during which he brandished a firearm. Manck sentenced him to 18 months but after 6 months released him and placed him on probation. Surprisingly he was then charged with another assault and at this point one would think a reasonable Judge would send him back to jail. No, Judge Manck did nothing and later when Dieterle wanted to move to Florida he canceled his outstanding probation order. This would prove fatal to 19 year old Samantha MacQuilliam. Shortly after Dieterle arrived in Florida and began dating Samantha, he stabbed and killed her.

Okayyyyy. Thread by Libloather on what Dems might think about the abortion issue. Thanks, narses.

Washington --In sometimes subtle ways, Democratic party leaders and political professionals are grappling with how to address abortion, an internal debate that turns on questions of emphasis, political positioning and how far to go in accepting as a public policy goal the view that abortion is a moral tragedy to be avoided.

While there is no serious discussion of moving away from the party's long-standing support of abortion rights, some moderates have pressed the party to more aggressively press a message that Democrats would work to reduce the number of abortions. But the party's pro-abortion rights constituency is wary of too strong an identification of abortion as a social ill, fearing that would provide political momentum for legal restrictions.

Thread on gays and abortion by Zender500. Thanks to TheSarce.

How would you like to ask the pro-choice mob a question that is guaranteed to have them jumping around like worms on a hot rock? Well, read on.

Three facts are important to know. First, though there are certainly members of the gay community who are pro-life, go to any large public event put on by the pro-choice gang, or read any edition of the NOW Times or MS Magazine, and you will see that the “mainstream” homosexual lobby and the “mainstream” abortion lobby are joined at the hip.

More Creamer with your morning coffee in this thread by wagglebee. This is on my upthread post by this Anita Creamer gal. Just a few years after the big war, I got to see one of the elegant houses where the handicapped went in the front door and never exited that way. Now, that is death with dignity, first class. The place looked story book beautiful, and we never had to see the internal workings and grindings. Isn't that what death with dignity is all about?

Slowly but surely, the political and emotional conversation about the issue of life has begun to shift from the realm of birth control to death control.

But maybe the fundamental question remains the same: Who's in charge of our lives, anyway?

When will we allow death with dignity? (Barf Alert!)

I would say Judge Greer’s guilty conscience is a factor but then I doubt he has a conscience. Maybe just a fear of getting caught is the real reason for him to keep looking over his shoulder.

In the movies, evil is portrayed as beaten down but not completely defeated and keeps bouncing back just in time for a sequal. So is it with TerriPAC. TerriPAC is back, scaring infants and elderly once more.

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The web site of Michael Schiavo's political action committee, TerriPAC, is back online after an absence of over a week. However, the Federal Elections Commission, which already fined the PAC $1,350, has written another letter to the organization saying its reports contain inaccurate and incomplete information.

After ordering her painful two-week-long starvation and dehydration death in March 2005, Michael Schiavo created the PAC to target pro-life lawmakers who tried to stop him from killing her.

Wagglebee has a thread this morning on a bone chilling lack of grasp on faith by a minister.

After the seizures got really bad, the family made the decision to call the vet. She and her assistant came to our house. We gathered around Mojo, who lay quivering on the outdoor patio, and we showered him with a final round of affection. With great reverence and tenderness, the vet gave him a shot and he drifted peacefully to sleep, never to wake again.

With the vet and the assistant patiently waiting, we sat for quite a while to make our goodbyes before they wrapped him in a blanket and took him away to be cremated.

Very often, we treat dying dogs and cats more divinely and humanely than we treat dying human beings. As a pastor, I have watched doctors let dying patients suffer needlessly for the sake of avoiding exposure to lawsuits. I've seen families agonize about whether to end torturous life-extending treatments for loved ones. Many of my parishioners emphatically have told me that they do not want to be kept going with tubes and ventilators when their lives are really over.

Mr. Preacher man, you see compassion and cuddly caring where the rest of us see the evil. Pastor, heal thyself.

Mr. Preacher, the devil is not your friend even if he tells a comforting lie. Maybe you would still believe him when he says to kiss your wife tenderly and toss her off the balcony.

Thread from monomaniac on PP. Thanks, narses. Check out the thread to see what people are doing. It is my contention that prayers at those places are the effective antidote to the evil.

It was a hot, dry summer morning, and Planned Parenthood did not appear to be overly busy. We were able to speak with and give literature to a few people. One mother came over to us from the McDonald's parking lot next door to ask for materials for her 15-year-old son. We gave her brochures on chastity, STDs, and the dangers and pitfalls of various contraception devices.
