Duke Faculty Should Be Shunned By Students ["Courses and Classrooms of These 88 Should Be Emptied"]
Newsday ^ | 08/03/2007 | Joseph W. Bellacosa

Accountability finally came to Durham County District Attorney Michael Nifong last month, when he was disbarred as an attorney and forced to resign as a disgraced public officer. Last week he issued an apology and a full retraction of the rape accusations against three Duke University lacrosse players.

Now, with students heading to Duke in just a few short weeks for the beginning of the fall term, the time is at hand to demand some accountability for Nifong's academic enablers.

Eighty-eight members of the Duke faculty publicly promulgated a dreadful letter, enflaming a premature and prejudicial atmosphere against their own students. Yet, their conduct is largely shielded from accountability. Equally troublesome, their ironically and suddenly protective university masters executed a confidential settlement to further immunize the Duke cabal from civil liability exposure.

He makes a very powerful argument and comes up with a way to show the 88 gangsters how they are viewed by respectable people. Unfortunately the 88 have their acolytes among the Duke student body so their courses would not be completely empty, but NO ONE should ever take their courses again except for the one member who apologized.

Gen. Public becoming more aware of Dogmatics 101 and the pervasive prominence of it in our higher educational institution., The canning of Ward Churchill was a painfully slow process. Maybe the next few episodes will result in an acceleration of the pace of resistance and increasing momentum against what has choked these places since the ‘60s..this Nifong business is a chance to focus more light on this garbage and improve the nationally desired drive to ensure more objectivity and actual scholarship of the old style of education that has been so badly subducted..I used the word subducted as, geologically, the process results in vast heat production and earthquakes..maybe such a process is at work here.

Duke University has successfully protected the gang of 88 from further actions by the falsly accused. But that group of entrenched Stalinist asassins must be held up to public notice. They cannot be allowed to fade quietly into the halls of academe, only to wait there for another opportunity to betray both the rule of law and the presumption of innocence in favor of a twisted and false agenda. Those faculty members are a continuing disgrace to both Duke University and to any notion of fair play in American society.

I don’t understand why anyone in their right minds would want to go there. Do they really think something like that can’t/won’t happen to them, too? Idiots.

Professor Johnson has this quote:

Math professor Arlie Petters said, “Whenever something causes undue pain to people, then of course that isn’t something I would want to be a part of.”

He calls it an apology and if the full context is not too different, then I could see that point of view. It does not seem to be an, I was wrong and I am sorry statement, from the part quoted, but it is at least a step.
