I don’t agree with your first sentence, and I touched on the topics of your 2nd and 3rd in my post.

“What I said then, I’ll say again: If Mitt can’t even properly define (or even come close to defining) what historic Christianity is (since his LDS filter distorts it), how is he going to define a Middle Eastern home-grown religion like Islam with all of its political & violent spin-offs?”

Wow, this is a ship sinking gaffe I think, sort of a “Poland is free” moment a la Ford.

I actually agree with what Romney said.. building hospitals and schools and so forth are going to win friends. Many people in the third world, professionals who become leaders in their society came up in the American universities in the third world.. And view America as a great friend.

I'm no fan of Mitt Romney at all... That said, it bothers me when the poisoning the well fallacy is applied: "X is bad. X did A. Therefore if Y does A, Y is bad." The form of the syllogism does not explicate whether A is the reason X is bad.

While politically it was a stupid thing to say, I would have expected a little more analytical rigor from my fellow FReepers, from whom I've come to expect a higher intellectual standard.

As much fun as we like to have at their expense, these people running for the Presidency are brighter than the average American. I am disappointed (but at the same time understand that my pedantic style is quite ill-suited to politics) that Romney did not use the clarification as an opportunity to teach a little on formal logic. Heaven knows we could use a little more of that...

Romney’s chief staffer, US special forces operative (until caught lying),
who also doled out Romney's fake badges to Romney's fake troopers (until caught by real LEO),
trolling on MySpace page for ... ???? (until caught)

on the actual four legs of Romney's stool (plan):
1) Emulating Hezbollah's 'social' pogroms [RomneyCARE-2=HezbollahCARE]
2) socialized medicine [RomneyCARE-1=HillaryCARE] without a vote,
3) gay indoctrination in elementary schools without a vote, and
4) attacks on Republicans and general citizenry with Romney's fake troopers sporting fake badges.

Romney does very well over all and is probably the most impressive of all the candidates.

If you like socialists I guess.

Oh good grief. He praised Hamas for god’s sake. That is hardly a little slip up. I did not write the article, I simple commented on it. I stand by the fact it was a stupid thing for him to say.

Apology or not ... it still was a stupid thing to say.
My mom used to say, “sorry is as sorry does”.

So correct.
I am amused however that there are people on FR more upset that I said it was a stupid remark (which it was), than the fact that Romney praised Hamas.
As a side note they all seem to be LDS, could that make a difference?...hummmmm

Looks like Romney just switched the the Democratic talking points by saying that.

Have Obama’s people been helping Romney’s script? LOL

“Quickly, though, requiring people to pay for private health insurance or prove they can afford medical costs is not the same thing as the government taxing the citizenry to assign you to a healthcare plan where it now controls the providers and care. Not even remotely close to compulsory healthcare at the point of a gun.”

Ummm, what happens to you if you refuse to pay for private health insurance under Romney care? Does the state look the other way? Or do they threaten you with bodily harm?

You have the option of setting up a private health savings account. It is encouraging personal responsibility by asking people to plan ahead for their medical care rather than leaving the American taxpayer holding the bag to pay the costs of all the "FREE" health care many people receive in America's ER's.

You won't believe how many people can afford cell phones for the whole family and satellite TV, but go uninsured allowing the taxpayers to pay the bill for medical services. Why? Because they can.

He apologized.

That's makes it ok then.

(I predict a variation of this tactic soon to be found in this thread!)
