I remember all those “pokes, prods, and probes” of the ferry systems. I’m glad that some are finally taking it seriously.

Ferry evacuated at Seattle dock after suspicious package found
By Christina Siderius
Seattle Times staff reporter
A suspicious package on the state ferry Puyallup caused an evacuation and delay this morning at Colman Dock in Seattle.
Trooper Cliff Pratt, of the Washington State Patrols bomb squad, said a crew member discovered a package rolled in carpet in the ferry bathroom earlier this morning.
Pratt said it was possible remnants of a bomb that had not functioned correctly, but it has been removed and passengers are being allowed back on the ferry after about an hourlong delay.
The ferry is up and running now, said a spokesperson for Washington State Ferries.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: SEATTLE (AP) - A suspicious package was found at the height of the Wednesday morning commute on one of the largest ferries in the Washington state fleet, idling the vessel for about an hour.
The 460-foot Puyallup had just been emptied of cars and passengers after arriving at Colman Dock from Bainbridge Island about 8 a.m. when the package was found behind the toilet in the disabled passenger stall in the mens restroom, said Marta Coursey, a spokeswoman for the ferry system.
Following a search and examination by State Patrol troopers, the 2,500-passenger, 202-vehicle capacity ferry was cleared to resume service about 9 a.m., Coursey said.
ARTICLE SNIPPET: Earlier information from law enformcement officials indicating that the package contained sparklers was erroneous.
Patrol Sgt. Craig H. Johnson would not disclose any details on the object, describing it only as a suspicious package, but said investigators determined it did not pose any immediate threat and carried it off the vessel for further examination.
ARTICLE SNIPPET: Several ferry employees and passengers reported the men to the FBI about a month ago, but agents have been unable to identify them and released the photos hoping members of the public would know who they are.

Bomb threat shuts B.C. ferry terminals
Last Updated: Saturday, July 28, 2007 | 9:12 PM PT
CBC News
ARTICLE SNIPPET: Sailings were halted at a B.C. ferry terminal Saturday evening as police investigated a bomb threat, causing delays for hundreds of people trying to travel between the mainland and Vancouver Island, ferry officials said.
The bomb threat was called in to 911 late Saturday afternoon by a man at a Coquitlam mall payphone who said it involved BC Ferries, David Hahn, president of BC Ferries, told CBC News.
ARTICLE SNIPPET: Hahn said that the delays were greatly inconveniencing a lot of customers and offered a $50,000 reward to anyone who has information that might lead to the person who made the threat.
