Someone else said that they are probably better off there than trying to get home in this mess. If they called the game they’d have a lot more people in the way and in traffic.
It may have been intentional to keep the game on.

Rather than dump 10's of thousands more people/cars onto the highways, it's probably best to go on with the game.

Millions of dollars are in play including tickets,vending,parking,TV,etc. It is hard to understand when you are part of a tragedy,but the rest of the world continues on its way.
The sudden death of my father turned our world into grief and disbelief but our neighbors still went to their jobs,etc.
It would cause more disruption to cancel the game and it would also add thousands of cars and gawkers to the mess.
For the people involved:Christ have mercy,God have mercy.
