Just turned on the news. 35W bridge collapsed in the Mississippi River. Cars, trucks, semis.....
Fires burning, tanker trucks, at least one school bus, more than ten cars......
Just now breaking.......
As others have mentioned, 800 Million in taxpayer bonds were floated for light rail and the highway program suffered. I assume that the liberals will own up on that nonsense.
There is an excellent explanation here from someone who certainly knows about bridges:

Youre not serious?
I'd love it if you could provide any kind of proof of this at all. I have some liberal friends I'd like to share it with.
Any links? Surely there is a conservative site out there that has some pics.
Funny, the sites I am looking at say the Federal Government paid 60% of that light-rail line, and the rest came from a mix of state, county, and airport monies.
That $424 million would probably not have gone into bridge reconstruction, it probably would have been awarded to another light-rail system in the US, if the Hiawatha Line had not been built.
OMG! :*( I don’t think I can pray any harder for all the people involved with this!! :*(
I hope you hear from your people soon. I heard from mine by e-mail (All OK!) God Bless!
The guy or girl who doesnt cry and run away. But who leaves a crushed car to pull children out of a bus. Not knowing if the steps between them and that bus might be their last. Not caring.
People who believe that they are their brothers keeper.
That is my UNITED STATES. Those are my people. One day I may have to prove myself worthy of those principles.
If I do, then my pride will be justified.
Amen!!! Beautifully written!!!!
Thank you for the photos, Danette!!
Yeah, it’s obvious CNN edited it to fit their format, trimming out some extraneous frames.
I have mentioned a few times by now how too much money is going to WELFARE, moreso than other things gov. possibly SHOULD be doing. Thanks for backing me up.
Has anyone in the MSM started to blame the president for this yet? because we know it’s gonna happen..
Unfortunately, not just the lawyers are to blame. Truthfully, the victims aren’t innocent if they just want to place blame everywhere for an accident.
Someone else posted the information orginally..
>>Call me a bushbot, but few know that President Bush went down there, and pulled children out of the water, into helicopters, carried them to the Navy ship that was the only source of food, water, and the most important thing at that time, a hot shower. The back of his shirt was wringing wet with sweat and dirt.

Very good slide show. Thank you.
I looks devastating.
Apparently there were no traffic cams on or near the bridge . . .
I don’t know about your place. But I do know it could work in Balto, but doesn’t because some a$$hat thought simple 20-mi tracks straight N-S and E-W through the middle of town would be sufficient. And they just keep ADDING to the LENGTH of what is already there - instead of spiralling outward with many lines instead of just 2. Which means, still, millions are left w/o easy access to the rail. Making it useless.
DC is no huge place like NY or Tokyo but it works beautifully.
Anyway, the point was, not to simply blame “diverting” money from infrastructure to public trans (regardless of what type). As also written elsewhere, we should focus more on the wasted money on things government should definitely NOT be doing. Handing it out to useless pustules who sap society, e.g.
Prayers sent for all involved
Why not start blaming the welfare state - for which there is absolutely no payback, and as stated elsewhere, generally saps alot more of that money you want for (also non-payback) infrastructure?
Already read. ;-)
