I should hope not. That would mean he'd done something to arouse their attention and issue an invitation to join.
:shudder:
Oh, please Bear, don’t hold that old fool against the rest of us!
I hope that after Harry Potter, Rickman can land some non-villain roles just for a change of pace. As good as he is at it, it does a soul good to stretch out once in a while.
I've seen that movie listed, but never watched it. I'll have to catch it soon. Also, Rickman recently appeared in an HBO film titled "Something the Lord Made" and did a truly superb job in a very different, non-villain role.
and now...
Somehow I knew I could count on you to capture that number...
Darn you! I was going to snipe for post 666!
*snicker*
I was waitin’ up for that post.
Good night, all.
“I also read Harry Potter. I do not believe the magic to be anything associated with the devil or occult.”
Twelve reasons not to see Harry Potter Movies
http://www.crossroad.to/articles2/HP-Movie.htm
“Harry Potter magic is not real. The occult is real and comes from a completely different source (the devil) “
What is the power behind the magic in HP’s world?
I already explained the magic in Harry Potter. It is something you are born with, like brown eyes. Reread my post. I explained why I believe they are different, you explain why other people believe thay are not. From my faith based background, the difference to me is the very foundation they are built on. The foundation that Harry’s magic is built on is a gift that is born to you. In the real world, it simply does not exist.
The occult is built on a foundation that does exist (since I believe in God, I also believe there is a devil and even he has powers) and can be performed by anyone who believes in it and practices it. In Harry’s world, if you aren’t born with it, you can not do it, ever, no matter how much you want to or how hard you try. I see a difference between the two.
I can say the “spells” from Harry Potter a billion times and my bathrooms will not clean themselves. I could go to an occult gathering and participate in what they do. I don’t know if their stuff will work, but I believe it to be the devil’s work and I will not mess with it.
“So the male witches I know are safe?”
I’ve never know a warlock who thought he was a “good warlock”.
I never said they were good.
Nor, for that matter have I ever known a male witch to call himself a warlock. Indeed, one commented that doing so was a sure mark of a fake.
“The foundation that Harrys magic is built on is a gift that is born to you. In the real world, it simply does not exist.”
Very wrong. I’ve know people involved with such things that claimed to have their abilities since birth. That is where the whold concept of generational witchcraft comes from. Many witches claim to come from a line of witches.
Most of the ones I know don’t call themselves anything. They will usually say that they are a practitioner of XYZ --- Satanism, Demonics, etc. Some call themselves Satanists or Wiccians.
I don’t, as far as I know, know any Satanists.
(I don’t get out much)...
We obviously disagree and will continue to disagree. As I said earlier, I see a difference and told you about real life examples I have made growing up based on how I was raised and my beliefs. I am comfortable in my opinions and decisions. I guess that’s why there is more than one flavor of ice cream.
btw, if I met a woman or man who said they were a witch or wizard (generational or not), I would think they were nuttier than squirrel $hit (a phrase I usually reserve for my mother in law). Wait, I did meet a girl who had some crazy background (she started working at the daycare where I worked, naturally). She was some “chosen one”, her parents were in prison for murder, blah, blah blah. I think she really was nuttier than squirrel $hit, an attention seeker and should not be around small children. Thankfully, I had already put in my two weeks, I don’t know what happened to the small children.
