I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today. I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.
Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.
As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.
This is just me, but I find those types of incidents more indicative of "hatred" than someone calling someone else a "poopy-pants head" on an internet website.
Yup!
We need proof!
Mr. O is way too anxious to make a point, where there’s none to be made, just to appear objective.
We need context and the profiles of the posters.
Hi Jim
I guess Bill O’Reilly went into the future and found all those horrible quotes on FreeRepublic - heck - they’re right there in your post.
Gosh ... BOR must be psychic (or is that psychotic ...oops, another case of hate speech. Wow - it’s hard to avoid this stuff.)
It would be nice if Bill could be interviewed in the same manner as he interviewed the “spokesman” of FreeRepublic - where the gentleman looked like he was out of his league, because of all the accusations being hurled, without giving him a chance to spend 30 minutes before the session, to research the points.
Nope - just a clear case of “smash and grab” by Bill. I never thought much of Bill, but he has definitely lost the tiny amount of credibility that I was willing to extend him.
Mike
I want to see those posts, if they exist, in their full context. He had better provide them to Kristinn as was promised to Kristinn or he is certainly a liar.
Steve Martin suddenly realizes that he is ... Bill O'Reilly. :)
BORe was merely trying a “fair and balanced” hit-n-run. I just saw the interview and was angry that he didn’t allow Kristinn to answer BORe’s ridiculous assertions and mis-statements. BORe should be ashamed of himself - if the “falafel king” is capable of such human fellings, that is!
I couldn’t find *any* quotes like that using Yahoo search.
Unless things are taken COMPLETELY out of context.
I say go ahead and call him on it...
That is this thread’s link.
By the third case of deja vu, I finally caught on.
Jim, those of us who have been here for years know better than to believe what he said tonight. I was channel surfing and recongized Kristin, so I stopped and couldn’t believe what I heard O’Reilly say.
Keep up the good work. You provide us a great service.
Agreed. It is unacceptable just to spout accusations without proof.
The big question is....How can anyone here ever believe anything the guy says? Now if he stretched the truth on this issue what else does he stretch?
“I have requested the list of offensive comments with source links from Fox. Im expecting a response tomorrow”
Man, am I looking forward to that!
“This is certainly not a “hate” site. What prompted his hit piece on FR?”
Amnesty. Hopefully, everyone understands the difference between a neocon and a conservative. Amnesty was a litmus test. Neocons and conservatives are worse political enemies than liberals.
Remember, DKos and FR were on the same page ONE time...amnesty.
Do you remember Dan Rather?
MM
I gave O’Reilly a lot of passes in the past, but I stopped after his treatment of the Swift Boat Veterans.
remember guys, hes looking out for you.
I watched the “factor” and caught the story, it seemed to me that “someone” cherry picked anything that they could find, and then he stated them on the air with no context.
A far cry from pictures of the President from the kosboyz, and the daily barrage of vitriol over there, if he wishes to be “fair and balanced” he should have provided context as well as when the posts were made, it sounded to me that he tried to say that stuff was posted Today.
***Those phrases were posted today. Heres the link:***
Good point. Those quotes were posted by Jim when he quoted O’Reilly. So now O’R can say he’s seen them posted by the owner of FR. Or, in other words, O’R doesn’t know how to attribute quotes.
